A northbound grain train cleared Plymouth diamond about 1 pm. The power was only CSX 670 (AC6000CW). I saw him while washing my car. Good thing I bring my camera anywhere train tracks are near. :D

Q33523 was WB at Harrison Road at 9:39 am. Power was CSX 9006 and CSX 7638. I didn't get the length (defect detector's transmissions have been very distorted lately), but it was a big one, probably the longest I've ever seen on a 335 east of Ensel. Several flats of black 6" and 8" pipe (cast iron?).

Q32623 was EB at CH 81.2 (Okemos Road) at 2:13pm. Didn't get the length or power.

A D908 passed WB at EE Trowbridge at 2:45pm. 1571 feet, 104 axles (I'm guessing that means 2 engines).

As JT was inquiring, D908 is normally a recrew of D708..in this case though, looks like D70922 died around Williamston this morning, so instead of a D909 recrew, it's d908...who knows.

D70922 - WILLIAMSTON MI CH 73 05-23-2008 06:10
D70822 - LANSING MI CH 87 05-22-2008 23:45 (maybe it never went west of Lansing)
K90823 - RIVERSIDE OS MI CG 80 05-23-2008 15:52
Q32623 - SOUTH LYON MI CH 36 05-23-2008 15:49
Q32723 - FOWLERVILLE MI CH 62 05-23-2008 15:54
Q33523 - GRAND RAPIDS MI CG 1 05-23-2008 12:40

Yes, the mill...located between the lumber company and the Plascor spur:

Wasn't stopped very long. Currently sitting on the Service Track in Wyoming. Outbound crew to Lansing called for 19:50.

I saw him when he went by the house... I sure do wish this line had more traffic.

Q327 arrived in GR with CSXT 4441 leading and 167, 6134 & 2520 trailing.
K908 is eastward out of GR. CSXT 5200 still leading. Has all 5 blocks. Will be running around their train at Ensel and going back into the Cash Block to yard the train. As long as I counted right, 39 loaded cars. As of departing GR, the crew does not know if they will be coming back to GR lite power or leaving the power at Ensel.

Edit- I knew I was forgeting something. Heard E446 going west lite power to get eastern empties from West Olive. CSXT 5249 & 399.

EDIT: I agree; the Saginaw Sub (North of Plymouth) is one of the few very scenic lines that CSX has in the state.

I strongly disagree!!! That would go to the CSX Grand Rapids Subdivision!!!
You say trestle... I say Trussell!!!

I agree with that statement. NOTHING can beat the GR sub.

Actually the area between Milford and Holly is really quite scenic with lots of curves and you cross over the tracks a good four times along Milford Road. Ive driven that way in the evening trying to catch a random grain train on that section but always end up getting to Holly Road in Grand Blanc and seeing a clear signal there.

Anything can be scenic you just have to explore what is available and be creative with your shots.

I don't know what to say about the "D908." I was just leaving my watching spot at Nancy Moore Park when it hit the CH 79.9 detector; I heard it call clear Okemos Road, not terribly clearly, but I was closer to the CSX line when he called east end Trowbridge, and that one was clear enough to write down in my notebook.

A train -did- die at Williamston this morning; Calumet City dispatcher asked Q335 to see if there was anyone there when he came by. I thought she called it D709 or maybe E709.
