NS Research Train

Unread post by GP30M4216 »

I caught the NS Research Train today while they got a crew change at the Dearborn Amtrak Station on the Michigan Line. They had D9-40CW #9304, car NS 37, and Research Car 36. The train departed the station eastbound on Number 1 track at 5:30PM. From what I heard on the scanner, they were going to test down Number 1 track eastbound to the North Yard branch, take that to the Sterling 2ndary, proceed up the Sterling 2ndary to 16 Mile, reverse direction, and spend the night in Livernois Yard.

I don't know where they are going, but it would be worth it to catch them. Research 36 is an old open-platform observation car and both of them look great in NS' Norfolk and Western inspired livery.

I wish I could of caught it when it went past Wayne around 3:45pm (Less than 10 minutes from my house), but I had to go to work!
"...and I was in the front and Matt grabbed and pulled my ears from behind me and made horsey sounds."
