Heads up BC (5/3/08)

Unread post by LSRC »

Train 326 departed Alpena today with a monster train. GP40M-3s 1166 and 1171 plus the 3500 and 102 cars. It stretched from Johnson street to 5 feet from Lafarge Main truck route (over a mile). They were just crawling out of Alpena in the rain. Pictures (had the video camera on the wrong mode so no video) to come within the next week (sooo busy).

On the flip side, 301 went north out of Bay City today with both trains for 327 and 327A. Departing north from Kawkawlin found 381 and 281 on the north end with 1174 and 798 at the rear. Upon reaching Pinconning, the train was split up with 381 & 281 ready for the trip to Grayling with 11 cars (1 MDW box, 1 UP 3 bay covered hopper, 5 gons, 2 tanks and 1 LSRC boxcar, 1 IATR box). 1174 and 798 were placed on the front of the Alpena train, all 2 bay covered hoppers and empty stone cars, totaling 35-40 cars.

Do you know what time they left Pinconning Jon? The 326 tonight was just crawling through town and maybe tomorrow morning I'll drag myself out of bed to go catch the 327a....maybe.

They tied down just after 3pm. I had to keep moving so I didn't see when they outbound crews arrived.

Ok thanks. Heard the horn at 9:35 this morning and rushed down to the yard. I spend two hours watching the 1174 and the 798 work the 325. I'd upload pictures, but the computer that has the pictures on it doesn't have internet right now (something's wrong). I'm hoping to get it repaired within the next few days. I've got tons of photos to upload, from today, yesterday in the rain, from last week, etc. I'm way behind.

Haha...accidently bumped the dial on the camera (for video) in the car, so instead of taking a video when I pushed the shutter, it took a picture of the train waaayyy far off in the distance. I also forgot it when I walked out of the house this morning. (again  ). I took a little video of train 327a exchanging crews in the yard this morning (making it the 325) but, alas, Microsoft Movie Maker fails to work. Oh well. I'll get the problem resolved and in the future, sometime, I'll get video up.

A couple of moves on the SBS between Saginaw and Essexville today, which isnt bad for a Saturday.

The 1164 and 1179 came up light around 11am to pick up a loaded stone train that was brought this morning with the 1166 leading. So the stone cars are starting to move, but I never count the cars but an estimated guess would be around 40-50 cars.

The other move was the 1169 only running light to Essexville to pickup an eastern coal train. They were just getting ready to depart for Saginaw around 8:45pm.
