CSX GRE MQT Train Location Update 4-28-08

Unread post by Raildudes dad »

Looks like no action at GRE today. 1 lonely box from CSx is it. 370 either didn't make it last night or 371 left at 6:15 this morning (heard someone whistling the west side).

Here's the thread about the curfew: http://www.railroadfan.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=8168

Basically installing all that rail that was dropped around Holland and the rest of west Michigan. At least one week that Amtrak should be departing GR early...(shouldn't have to leave early when the crew is working Lamar to Seymour, but who knows)

I see W03324 in the system as not moving, but there's also a D00728 and D00828 listed Porter to GR, which I'd assume one of these is this work train.

Also a D00628 listed as a Plymouth to Walbridge and back run today.

Maintainer getting East Saugatuck to Helper. He will have D007 working with him. Will be clearing up for X500 which has just been recrewed at Kirk. Also, the RN said that a crew has been called for a coal train down there to come up the hill late this morning/early afternoon.

X500-27 is in Holland - 10:42 AM...

EDIT: As they went through Holland they called the train designation out as X500-26.

The usually appear on gllx3001facts.com. However since you asked:
Z15127 got the YL at 0130 this morning
GLLX3003, 3002 + a hand full of cars.
Went up the Coach Lead to 35 track, train was in 18 and 20.

The power sounded good last night.

Didn't stick around to see the outbound.

Zack, Amtrak still has to leave early, due to the fact that they are on the Grand Rapids terminal Sub between Fuller and Lamar. So the Curfew applies to them too.

Still saying X500-26 here in GR. CP 9645 leading. Sounds like a banner test is awaiting them just beyond 28th Street.

Q322 is sitting south of Plymouth diamond about 15 minutes ago because there is two workers welding some part of the cross-over near the Toledo Wye. Q322 might be rolling by now.

The 3001 is in the Manistee shops to have its wheels turned, after they finish with that, then all three will be back on the road. I have to commend the mechanical forces up there. They took the railroad from being potentially power starved in Jan/Feb to a power surplus by the end of April.

Q326 was powered by CSX 7529, 4587 and a GP38-2. 6 cars, all covered hoppers.
D007 went west out of GR earlier, CSX 2738 lite power.
X500-26 is now eastbound out of GR, CP 9645 and 2300 feet of train. No intermodal or autoparts.
Coal loads for West Olive should be coming up the hill in the next hour or two.

Just overheard dispatcher telling a crew that something would just have to wait until tomorrow because she already has 15 calls and with the "new system" she just "can't make it happen".

What new system does Dispatch have to deal with?

Part of the "Next generation Dispatching" that was cut over on Sunday. It is a better system than the old one, but it takes a lot of getting used to.
