MQT CSX GRE Train Location Update - 04-16-08

GMTX 2676, GLLX 3002, GMTX 2648 south, got their YL at 0205, had a good size train south, but a shorty going north. This train had a curiously graffiti-ed car on it, if you get a chance look for DOWX 6410, I'll be posting pictures of the "art" on it soon.

Looks quiet at the GRE. Amtrak crew was on duty early this morning. 26 will be pushing. There's a box with the 3 CSX CH delivered yesterday. I,m guessing a contractor will be showing up to build a pit. There's 2 sticks of rail between the rails just outside the engine house door.

Didn't have time to type out the update early this morning, as I noticed Q326 was on the move, so out the door I went... Caught them at 76th St on the east side of Zeeland... actually heard Amtrak today..then again, I was only about 4 mile behind them, and wow, was their radio barely coming in.
Inspector Shelner is moving some of the rail laid down around Wyoming Yard, has track time between Plaster Creek and Market St.

A train with leader BNSF 6106 just got the Roost and Power Blocks absolute north and south.
Q335 stopped at Seymour, CSX 7900 leading.

Mike Tabone called me 30 minutes ago; the Ribbon Rail train that was seen going west a few weeks ago has cleared eastbound at Howell and is dropping off a rail somewhere near some park (I forgot the name of the park), but I'm not sure if they will get to Plymouth anytime soon because there's a red post for trains in South Lyon because they are ripping out the crossing on Griswold Road.

Heard D802 up at West Olive talking with Wyoming Tower...said to give the tower a call when they want their 3 hour call time... any idea what that's about? Letting them know when to call the crew to take empties out?

Yes that is probilly it. That is the way we did it when we worked empties at Bay City. Call the yard master three hours before we thought we were going to get back, so they could have the outbound crew called.

W925-14 w/ CSX 2520 + 2654 still sitting in the yard at New Buffalo waiting for car dept. out of GR to look the cars over and give them the go ahead to pull. The geeps have been sitting there since monday..

Does anyone know if the rail train will make it back to West Michigan or around the Chicago area???

the blocks from lake odessa to ensel iirc are
lake o - from east end lake o siding to west end sunfield siding - ml
jordan - ml west end sunfield siding to east end sunfield siding
field - ml east end sunfield siding to west end grand ledge siding
ledge - ml west end grand ledge siding to east end grand ledge siding
cash- ml east end grand ledge siding to wedt ensel
neither sunfield or grand ledge siding have a block name
when rn issues a meet via dtc for a meet at sunfield lets say
rn will give the wb the cash , ledge, and field blocks and tell the wb to take siding sunfield, that is as far as the wb can proceed west, the wb
must clear the mainline at the end of his permit, the eb would be given the
lake o and jordan blocks , holding on the ml at the east end of sunfield,
that's as far as he is allowed to proceed east, the reason for the wb
taking the siding is the west end of sunfield has a spring switch, thus
the crew dosen't have to hand throw the switch, the wb would proceed
after the eb gives up the lake o block to rn, who in turn would issue the lake o block to the wb to proceed on the ml to lake odessa and ctc terr.
eb's take the siding at grand ledge for the same reason, the spring switch is at the east end siding switch

You sure the geeps are still sitting there? could have sworn I saw those two engine numbers on Q32616 this morning trailing behind the two lead motors going to Wyoming yard in GR.
Thanks for the info Donnie... I do know where the Jordan block is, but just haven't actually seen that response when I've looked into my magic 8-ball for answers.

W008 not D008 as foreman was calling it. Chased them from Howell all the way back to brighton, raced back to my house, grabbed a bike, raced back to Island Lake, my orange vest got me past the toll booth, and filled a 256 memory card with shots of them dropping at Academy, the Huron River Bridge, and under the Cantilever signal. On the way to school, I spotted them on the curve in Salem right at the salem signals between 6 mile and Currie Roads. It was a good day; I rhode a bike for the first time since my accident.
