As an odd occurance, there is CP X50014 that just arrived in Grand Rapids..normally stuff called for the 14th is called around 23:30, so it technically comes the following day, but this one decided that it didn't like Chicago, and left as quick as it could.
Plus, that GP60 CSXT 6899 is the third unit on CSX Q326 today.

335 had a Dark Future C40-8 on it (bright future or what ever. #s were: 7846 leading and 7706 trailing. Had 4 or 5 PSTX Rotary Dumps about 6 from the bottom, a rather odd sight for me to see. Chased them from the Middle of Now where (out by Howellish) to Williamston.

Y171 i believe is what it's called... Rail train working Grand Rapids today, dropping off rail around Pleasant St right now, working up the east leg of the wye, and going out to Seymour I heard. Jon Hall, Jon Leese, JT, Nathan, and who knows who else getting to watch it, while I'm at the office...bah poop!

Doc, do you have any idea what that string of empties is doing on the siding at Harlem? Been there far maybe a week, as far as I can tell. No room in the Consumers yard?

Terrific day up in GR as far as I'm concerned. It was great to meet up with some familiar faces and walk into all their photos on accident (sorry JT) I'll do a trip report later on that side, but we caught Q326 leaving with their matching Scheme 7 lashup of SD40-2 8027, SD60 8706 and GP60 6899. They had four cars.

The rail train used a different symbol today and surprised a few of us, using symbol Y171-14. They backed out of the west end at Lamar and laid rail along the main at the Lamar interlocking, then went down the service track. They were supposed to lay more rail along the mainline through the yard, near Division St., at Pleasent St. and on the east leg of the Sunnyside Wye, and perhaps get as far as Seymour. Others who stayed longer in the day can post about where else they laid rail. GP30 RDSLUG #2246 and GP40-2 #6458, nearly fresh out of the paintshop, were power, and B&O caboose #904000 was on the tail end.

We also had a surprise X500-14 arrive at Grand Rapids around 11:15AM this morning, with a lone AC4400CW (#9638?) for power... no GR pickup just autoracks today.

Usual yard jobs working the east and west end. Overall a great cloudless day for catching trains!

By the time i caught up to Y17114 they were laying rail around Hall Street on the #1 Main, Again at MP151, under 131, up by Amtrak on the East Leg of the Wye, then Shoved back into the yard. Really cool to see that rail train in action. And no clouds for JT! w00t!

Well there is still some cars in there mostly cars that are so bad they can't move. I was talking with one of the signal engineers and he said that the yard eventually will be rebuilt to be staging..

For those are following the signal upgrades... the Signal Dept. has been testing the new signals around the Michigan City area and are expecting to have them up and running when they get the new signals up at New Buffalo:The work at N.B. started this week and they should be up in May.,So get your pics of the old signals before history comes to an end...

What's up with no N956/ E945s again? Is there another stock-pile up in Essexville?

I believe CN got the Essexville traffic back again via Durand and the HESR.
