MQT CSX GRE Train Location Update - 04-04-08

Looks like it's going to be quiet at the GRE today. The yard is empty except for 1 empty centerbeam for NS. CSX picked up a half dozen Kings & 1 Pee Dee River box last night (5:30 am?). 1 vehicle for I'm assuming Amtrak air. 26 will be pushing 371 today.

Y121 is up at the Hamilton Co-op elevator at North Harlem - will be stopping at Windquest on the back to Holland. 12:30 PM.

Another airplane story. Wife, daughter and I non-stop to Tampa scheduled at 10AM. (Plane is the winter NWA non-stop round tripper GR- Tampa a couple times a day - great flight by the way). Sitting on the plane - "there will be a little delay while we verify the fuel load". 20 minutes later we're asked to leave the plane " " the mechanic" (contracted with Northern Air) shift was over and we have to call him at home to come in "to verify" the fuel. Half hour later - Northern Air pickup drives up. Mechanic goes into the cockpit, come back down, gets ladder to look at fueling port under the wing. 15 minutes later the fuel truck arrives and hooks up to plane - stays hooked up for 15 minutes (I'm watching out the concourse window ) Now I can't verify they were pumping fuel all the time but if I was a betting man I'd say they forgot to fuel the plane overnight

We are meeting my daughter's best friend from college in Tampa. She's flying NWA from Detroit to Tampa. We get a call from her, she's going to be a little late. Their plane is overloaded and they had to delay boarding while they pumped fuel off the plane . It all worked out in the end, we ended up arrivng at the same time in Tampa so I didn't have to drive back to pick her up. I also have this neat story to relate . I think we got $130 vouchers for our delay.

my wife just had this same thing happen to her, from south bend to detriot on NWA, they overloaded the plane and was going to drop fuel or take off baggage, like DOC said in early post, they know what is going to happen weeks prior, is there any planning or are we just WINGGING IT.

Thanks for letting me know it was light power... was driving from our adams st office to zeeland and heard them going across Riley... now i don't feel quite so bad about missin them....

Darn it, son of a bisquit eater! I was just going down 31 south of Grand Haven a little after 5pm and was debating going by West Olive...but then I turned on Lk Michigan Dr and headed home instead.
