B28 tonight
8 boxes
13 coils
20 86 foot boxes
22 grain cars
2 loads of lumber

couple of questions where are the 86 footers coming from or is NS still servicing an auto plant in Lansing?

Why is Lumber comming out of Lansing? I have seen loads go up but never come down.

Where did all the grain cars come from looked like corn. Is Masons elevator that large?

Thanks for any answers

I think...
Wick in Mason? Now, United Building Centers
Grain car from Leslie Elevator? My friends and I stopped at Leslie Depot for good breakfast. We saw Leslie Elevator siding track.

As far as I know, the only plant that NS is still serving in Lansing is the GM stamping plant. Not sure what goes in or out of it.
Not sure about the grain. Both Mason and Leslie have normal small town elevators. Not very big.

Cars on B-28.

86 footers and grain cars are probably storage cars that have been ordered back out of Lansing. #3 track at the yard at Cavanuagh Rd was completely full of storage cars. The "stamping plant" business you're referring to is MCM, ie the demolition company that is demolishing the old stamping plant. They receive empty gons for scrap loading. After they have finished with the stamping plant, the craft center will be next. Since I haven't worked since Friday because of Book of Rules classes, the lumber might either be mis-routes or lumber that was supposed to be delivered to the CN but could not because the New Hollow Main was taken out of service last week. (might be back in service by now, don't know for sure)

Thanks Hogger, I was hopeing they wernt storage cars, thought maybe new business.

Car Dept said something about seeing those 2 familiar cars go up. Must have been talking about the lumber loads.

Most of the 86,s were NS with a few CR mixed in.
Grain cars were almost all NW's

Talk about over-handling. I see in the computer that there are about 5 empty box cars that came out of MPC in Mason that went to Elkhart that are now coming back to Lansing to be interchanged with the CN because they were the ones who delivered them to us in the first place. More car count for us.....
