Not exact times or for sure which train went first:
D700-24 and Q327-23 dept Wyoming parade style between 0040 and 0115.
No engine #'s or car counts.

Didn't hear anything about a Q334, maybe dosed off...

X500-23 Dept Wyoming Yard 0335 with CP 9614 leading.
Z151-24 is still wandering around the yard doing their usual.
Big Easy

Something with a weak radio cleared Okemos Road westbound at 6:30am. Bulk special of some kind, maybe? Early for anything else.

Not having much luck with the radio this morning.

Something eastbound passed the Dobie Road (Okemos) defect detector at 7:14am. Reported at 4977 feet. Q334, maybe?

I'm guessing that means nothing in daylight for me this morning.

Y121 is at Windquest - thought they hit the elevator in Harlem first - so I guess they'll head to Harlem next.

EDIT 12:50 PM - CSX 2517 and lone caboose heading south at Riley St.

Any thoughts on what coal train that was going through Zeeland just now? It was empty and headed west with a BNSF on the point.....must of had a gazillion cars (ok, that's an exaggeration) but long, none the less!

Answering a couple questions from mikekmac above, 1. The something with a weak radio that went west over Okemos Rd at 630am was a very early Q335-25 with CSX 693 and 8804. It wasnt a weak radio but a conductor with a weak voice as I ALWAYS have to turn the radio up full volumn to hear him when he is on. The same voice has a habit too of calling signals when the engineer is blowing the horn for crossings. But, at least he calls them, something many are not fond of doing for reasons discussed here earlier. 2. The Something east passing the Okemos DD at 714am was X500-22 with CP 9614.

Thanks, Bob and Zack.

Q32725 cleared the DD at Dobie Road (MP 79.9) westbound at 3:56pm. 3423', 208 axles, 39mph.

I think I missed the discussion about why conductors are reluctant to call signals. I do know that I'm hearing less than I was when I first started using my scanner, and that was only a year ago. CN crews never call signals in the open anymore; all the information I get comes from listening in on dispatcher-conductor or conductor-conductor (at a meet) talk or from hearing the squawk from the EOT (which at least tells me to pick up my camera).

208 Axles on Q327... Unless they have a TON on power on the headend, that's a decent size train of well over 40 cars, good to know. I know I'm not the only one who has witnessed that Q327 between Detroit and GR is a more sizeable train that Q326 over the same trackage. If they abolished 326 but kept 327, well, then X500's crew could head back to GR without deadheading.

I knew I should have gone down to Wingeier Rd. Looks like I would have bumped into you. Instead, I parked at the storage place next to the tracks on Alden Nash and waited for them to head back west.
