Re: Amtrak Train Location Update/Heads Up Thread 2024
The first Floridian train are leaving their home terminals today, 40 departing from Miami and 41 departing from Chicago this evening, replacing the Silver Star and Capitol Limited. The new consist will pretty much mirror the Silver Star: Amfleet 2 coaches, a cafe car, and Viewliner diner, sleepers, and baggage. This will free up at least 15 superliners from the three Capitol Ltd sets to increase capacity on western trains.

355 will have a charger leader and P42 #58 (which led today’s 350) on the back. The 58 is bad ordered due to loading issues.

353 has been terminated - psgrs bussed beyond Dearborn. Just barely made out over the Wayne County radio feed a brief blurb
about power lines down at CP 18. We'll see what happens when 350 closes in

Re: Amtrak Train Location Update/Heads Up Thread 2024
I drove down there to see this mess for myself, it’s nothing short of a sh*tshow right now.
353 is backing east (how far they’re going, I have no idea). 350 terminated in Ann Arbor (which could really screw 355 over since 355 uses 350’s train). B19 is somewhere over the rainbow (I thought I saw them parked at Dearborn) and they’re trying to figure out what their next move is.
I did pull up to 18 only to find DTE trucks everywhere obstructing the view, not sure how far along repairs are.
I’m currently dealing with a case of Bronchitis and the weather ain’t helping so I may not be able to stay for long. I will keep y’all posted.

Re: Amtrak Train Location Update/Heads Up Thread 2024
As luck would have it, 355 is canceled. This is the first time in the last few years where an Amtrak train in Michigan was canceled neither due to weather or equipment failures!

Well, I saw what I thought was 350 today, going past MP 22.5 about 40 minutes later than usual and going pretty slow. It also looked from the backyard that it was on Main 2 instead of Main 1 but I can't be sure from my view from the house.

That was a deadhead move with 353’s train, believe it ran as 952 back to Pontiac. 350’s train is parked somewhere between Ann Arbor and Dearborn (Ypsilanti I’ve heard?) and will possibly become tomorrow’s 353 depending on repairs.Manistique wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 5:39 pmWell, I saw what I thought was 350 today, going past MP 22.5 about 40 minutes later than usual and going pretty slow. Speaking of: repairs are still underway and they won’t be done until sometime Tomorrow AM.

Both 351 and 353 are canceled today because of the power lines issue in Dearborn.

The debris has been cleared of Dearborn, so Amtrak is back on track. Speaking of which Amtrak 352 has a P42 leader.
#58 leading with 5 horizons and a charger on the end.

Into Pontiac at 9:19. Horn sounds AMAZING even from four miles away.Graham Halverson wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 8:09 pmThe debris has been cleared of Dearborn, so Amtrak is back on track. Speaking of which Amtrak 352 has a P42 leader.

Re: Amtrak Train Location Update/Heads Up Thread 2024
Train 354 was 4.5 hours late arriving at Pontiac this morning, arriving at 5:23 am. Train Status says it was equipment issues.
And, no surprise here, outbound 351 is delayed up to two hours because of this. I wonder why they don't send yesterday's 352's trainset back first as 351 and fuss with this for 353? Buster, do you know?

My best guess is they needed to wye em this morning. Anyways the signal at Birmingham just went clear for 351. Computer has a 7:13 departure from Pontiac.

Amtrak 351 is out of Pontiac and just passed MP 22.5 at 8:13 am, two and a half hours late (see above posts).

Re: Amtrak Train Location Update/Heads Up Thread 2024
The status was incorrect for last night. The lift bridge at CP509 (Calumet River) got hung up resulting in no trains able to pass for several hours. 354, 370 and 41 all got hung up and were significantly delayed.Manistique wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 5:35 amTrain 354 was 4.5 hours late arriving at Pontiac this morning, arriving at 5:23 am. In the past, I think 352 would turn to become 351 next morning and 354 would turn to become 353. Is there a difference in the consist that would require 354 to be 351? It’s possible due to the delay the 354 crew was out of time to wye the train upon arrival, but you wouldn’t think it would take 2+ hours to accomplish this morning. Just my surmizations!
