CN Train Location Updates - October 2023

M396 east clear mp216 at 10:42. CN #2656 + BNSF #6500.

Had 2 CN trains go through Durand within 20 minutes. First one was an eastbound manifest with a lot of grain hoppers a handful of them were Potash. Lot of tankers too. Train also had a mid dpu and it is not stopping to work Flint (if that helps). Anyone know the symbol?

Next train was M396 with 2 CNs leading.

I was told that the first 396 was an X

NB 515 past MP 22.5 at 2:04 pm with a short train including seven or eight boxcars from Chrysler, about half of them marked WC.

The evening parade on the South Holly started with Amtrak 355 departing Pontiac on time, passing MP 22.5 at 5:35 pm.

Right on 355's tail was a SB 513 with GP38-2L 4805 and one tank car at 5:40 pm

Now, at 6:50 pm, 507 is struggling up the hill in a snow storm.

L508 came to Durand with 4 locomotives, they dropped 2 of them off in the yard since CN is over there giving out candy and goodies to trick or treaters and railfanners. They’re spreading the word about how to be safe around the tracks. Following that L508 coupled back up to their train they left on the Flint Sub, then proceeded through the High Wye southbound. No Intermodals tonight.

A lite NB 513 with 4805 passed MP 22.5 at 7:45 pm. No 508 yet.

17:00 - L508 with CN 8964/CN 2657/CN 5340/CN 5703 drops their train on M2 and takes the High Wye before backing into Durand Yard. The crew stops CN 5340/CN 5703 in Durand and then at 17:26 heads SB out of Durand Yard. They’ll use the High Wye again to shove back to their train before continuing south to Pontiac.

17:00 - L508 with CN 8964/CN 2657/CN 5340/CN 5703 drops their train on M2 and takes the High Wye before backing into Durand Yard. The crew stops CN 5340/CN 5703 in Durand and then at 17:26 heads SB out of Durand Yard. They’ll use the High Wye again to shove back to their train before continuing south to Pontiac.

CN 5340/CN 5703 take the Port Huron Wye and return east to Flint with 16 cars from HESR.
