Some of the single stacks are sharing a wheel truck which affects the total cars based on the axle count. From what I had once heard, if “2” Well cars are sharing a wheel truck, CSX counts that as being 1 car - can anyone confirm this policy?

Yes, any cars that share a truck(s) and or are permanently drawbarred together are considered 1 car. Intermodal well cars come in single, twin, triple, or 5-pack varieties. So even a 5 unit articulated well car would be considered 1 car. It’s not just CSX that does that, every Class 1 does AFAIK.

M326 passing 91.9 now. Has locomotives at front and rear, with 10 double stacks at the head end (10 wells=2 cars?). Puny train, but I’m at work and can’t listen to scanner. Tom can report axles.
