So in the end, why did the OCS run thru Michigan? I had heard potash execs but others told me that was a rumor/joke.

The Michigan Division had this visit along because they haven't had a visit like this in a long time. It's an opportunity for the local managers to present more in depth regarding current business, opportunities, asks for capital investment etc... Every yard they went thru yesterday was choked, strategically or otherwise, to show that they were using all available resources and could use additional resources. Then all the tracksides, yards and crossings were cleaned up, maintained etc...
No execs from other companies were on the train. The visit went well and we should see some major investments over the next couple of years.

I was by Plymouth East Yard yesterday around noontime.
Absolutely empty.
Not unusual for the times when I go by.

Goodbye to all dart signals on CSX lines. Saw the train at Howell yesterday and was surprised to see a fully functioning dart signal bridge with original USS boxes but I would assume with these “major investments” this will be the last stand for them and the last time the OCS will pass them.Talk wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 10:44 amBye Bye Plymouth Sub SearchlightsLansingRailFan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 10:17 amNo execs from other companies were on the train. It will be interesting to see how they envision the future of the GR sub as coal traffic disappears.
And hey—could someone tell them to remove the piles of riprap by the St. Joe Bridge shack? The waterfront is the pride of our community and we don’t want to look at their darn rocks!

LansingRailFan - all the reports you provide, both here and on this website in general, are detailed and contain great information, thank you for that. I am curious though, how were you able to obtain this information - that no execs from other companies were on the train and that major investments should be seen over the next few years? No execs from other companies were on the train. The visit went well and we should see some major investments over the next couple of years.

I was surprised to find myself all alone at the Fairview Avenue crossing on the east side of Zeeland, where I captured this video coming around the curve:

Feeling lonely wasn't the only option - later on I joined the foamy fray at the Thornapple River for the bridge shot!
I love railroad history, so the consist of cars has been interesting to study, especially from watching everyone's videos. When the cars were recently repainted into the new B&O-inspired executive scheme, the cars were mostly renamed from states and cities served by CSXT to significant leaders who have contributed to CSX. Here's a consist summary in case anyone is interested:
