DD at 104.3 just went off for 60... is that axles or feet? Could it be the grinder?
Heard DD at mp CH104.3 @ 5:46pm with 64 axles & 646 feet long. Sounds like that's the Rail Grinder - I was noting 64 axles when they were going over the DD's on the Grand Rapids sub-div. (My on-line scanner delay time is worse than what it is for others, so, it may have been around 5:44pm for the actual DD radio report).

The smaller Rail Grinder that follows the larger Rail Grinder was reported by DD104.3 @ 6:04pm with 12 axles & 122 feet long. I think the smaller machine is for switch grinding.

V664 grain empty for Grand Ledge. CSX 458+502 with 90 cars. Clear on a pair in Williamston at 6:38 PM
Per pictures a friend sent, aside from 458, 537 was the other unit, unless there's also a 502 somewhere? Perhaps left with the empties somewhere?

Thank you. I was not even positive on 458 as there was not enough daylight left to see either one of them for sure. Not quite sure how I came up with 502, plus I don't see well from the house after dark anymore, even with flood lights on. Have corrected the second unit number on the original post.

When I saw it on the GR sub last night it ground the crossing over Ivanrest (~CG5) 3 times and nothing else that I saw, so I'd imagine you're right; just doing switches and other details.

The small grinder was doing turnouts and crossings. In the video below the small grinder is at Century Ave in Grand Rapids the grinder had just passed East over the crossing them reversed West to the crossover between Century and Grandville Ave. Then continued East and did similar at the Graham Street crossing by Buchanan Ave.
I have videos from both grinders on YouTube.

If anyone's awake at this hour, what frequency are they talking on?
I presume either 160.23 or whatever the MOW frequency is.

Update: seem to be communicating on 160.23

Thru Williamston at 00:20 this morning.

I knew I should’ve went out instead of watching the Bills suck against the Chiefs.
