The MQT with four units heading south from Newaygo 9:15. For the moment it appears to have settled into a routine of changing crews in Newaygo. Heading south 8:30-9:00AM or so and being back late afternoon. Heading north 7:30-8:30PM or so.

Yesterday, Saturday June 13th, West Michigan Railroad crossed CR 681 in rural Van Buren County with multiple cuts of storage tank cars. This is the first rail traffic on that section of the line in many years. This comes after a tie replacement project which was done to ensure the track would hold the cars safely. It was an all day affair with two crews in two locomotives doing switching due to lack of sidings. Also an employee had to be assigned to the exempt crossing at CR 681 for traffic control. The locals were a little surprised to see trains crossing the road!

I am glad you saw the pictures! I figured people would wanna see some action on the line being documented.

And selling beer is very important. It would be a more miserable world without it!

GRE has been to Lowell most days this past week. There are around 10 hoppers in various stages of being unloaded at King this weekend. King has been doing more work on the big grain storage bins also over the past couple weeks also.

Planning a MSRR chase sometime this week. What time does the southbound usually get to Holland?

In Baldwin over the weekend, a pair of MQT orange units (Geep and an SD, I think) were tied down with about 10 loaded ballast hoppers and former C&O Wide Vision caboose 3158 on the former NW wye spur track alongside the coaling dock. What territory is getting ballast right now?

Semi-related, but what schedule does the Ludington-Baldwin turn job currently run? Still nightime, or something else?

To answer kd_1014's question:

Mid morning is usually a good bet. After Q327 leaves and after D702 has a chance to stage their outbound cars, if possible. As far as I know, they tend to arrive and depart from the Waverly crossover/east leg of the wye visible from the 120th Street crossing. The sidewalk at the crossing is a good place to see some of the action.

WMI left 4 more outbounds on top of the 3 that were left last night, tonight. Maybe D700 will pick them up tonight (last night they had the D700 crew take an empty coal train to Chicago!).

No sign of GRE out in Lowell as I was around town today. No covered hoppers in the small yard near the Grand River, no cars near M-21, and the onsite King Milling trackmobile was moving around a couple hoppers as of noon.

That power was MQT 2041(2005) and MMRR 2057(3839) the ballast is for the Ludington subdivision they dumped it on Monday or Tuesday, the subdivision is getting about 16000 new ties for the mainline and a bunch for Ludington Yard.
