When was the last time a train ran the GRE at night?

Probably 2009-2010 when they were running the storage extras.

13:20 today: Northbound MQT road freight arriving at Baldwin Station with 3406 leading, 24 cars, about half boxcars and the rest a mix of covered hoppers and tanks.

MQT caboose 3158 is on the east leg of the wye beside the depot with about a dozen loaded ballast hoppers. Bundles of new ties are also staged.

EDIT: sounds like they are heading back south again at 14:05, 5 miles south of Baldwin.

Do you know how far they'll make it before tying down?

I don’t, unfortunately. No visual on a southbound. Actually, I’m not even sure it was a road train. Normally we can hear them at a minimum of 2 crossings up at our place up here, but I only heard them at one. I wonder if they might have grabbed some of those ballast cars?

Really wondering what the situation was at Fuller yard for that train. Did CSX or GDLK drop them off in one big cut over the Alpine bridge and had GRE just pick them up and go?

Yes, CSX arrived with them, pulled through the interchange and west across Alpine until they were clear of the switch. 24 tied onto the east end, CSX cut away, and 24 took them east.

CSXT brought a windmill blade train up from Toledo to Plymouth, MI on May 25, 2020. Was in Plymouth at Lilly Road at 1400 waiting on a LSRC crew to take train North. Power is UP 6264.

GDLK heading north from Elkhart with maybe 30 some cars, including 4 Amtrak ballast hoppers.

WMI left 2 cars for CSX last night, and it sounds like D700 dropped off 6.

MS Swing Bridge Issues

Unread post by Talk »

On May 27th, The MS had issues with the Swing Bridge and ended up blocking 3 railroad crossings in downtown Grand Haven. Ended up having to back the whole train all the way through town and tied down for the night by Rosy Mound Elementry school.
