D700-07 @ eastward 7:42pm reported from mp CG90 with CSX engine #4050. Heard earlier talk from the dispatcher saying "we'll get the bridge closed for you & take you as far as you can go". He's running out of time & won't make it back to Grand Rapids.
@ 7:48pm D700 talking to the St Joe Bridge Tender saying he has been having engine troubles & is stopped for a boat passing thru the bridge & his engine died.
@ 8:21pm Dispatcher called D700 & said they will be closing the bridge soon & asked if he got his engine re-started, he said not yet & they're doing resets hoping it will get them started - they want to get him over the St Joseph Bridge & onto the double track.

Thanks Tom for the long, thorough and detailed information on why DD's have many different readouts for train lengths when axle counts remain the same. All sounds logical to me and you did a good job explaining all that. Understood it all and learned something new today.
Oh, you're welcome. I worked on the HBD's for 26 years including an early model that still used vacuum tubes LOL.

DD19.1 reported 664 axles & 9,479 ft long. The above engines & 163 cars. Was wondering if Q327 was also going to have the additonal 2 BNSF engines that were with these 2 CSX engines on yesterday's Q329, the BNSF #6937 + #5989 leading.
At 08:13am Dispatcher called Q327 regarding a possible missing car in their consist.

Q32808 by Howell at 07:45. 754+485 with 38 cars and 14 of those were the gondolas with black plastic covering the loads. Q32908 went west at 09:05 with 3460+5250 power from yesterdays Q328. Has Lansing cars to pick up which I assume includes CN 8912 that D708 picked up at Peaker yesterday.

When I saw nearly 50 stone empties on the rear of Q327 yesterday, the red flag went up for me as when management starts messing with car routeing's its never a good sign for the Plymouth Sub. So, it was zero surprise when I saw the chat page this morning say 328-329 are being cut off along with tons of other trains system wide. . We lost all of our road trains before for nearly two years, as they ran nothing but 150 car locals one each way per day, and whatever grain trains would run, so they can do it again. Trains were long and heavy on the Chicago side often running two 326 & 327s a day. So much for cost savings. Once again, bring on Lake State or Watco. Reports from BL2 with be few and far between soon because there wont be much to report.

Q329-08 @ 12:14pm reported by the DD mp CH104.3 with 418 axles. Axle math works out for 3 engines & 100 cars. Sounds like he may have picked up the CN #8912.
Broadcastify's Scanner reception was great this morning & had heard Q329 copying EC1 orders at mp CH54.2 at 09:06am for the Wallace St & Elm St crossings, could also hear the engineer replying.
Q329-08 @ 12:53pm reported by the DD mp CH126.3 with 418 axles & 6,413 feet long.

Hope they keep the Q328 & Q329 rolling & seeing your reports BL2.
