Looked like quite a few gons came up in your video, what are the rest for?

The rest are loaded with old railroad ties from CSX. They take those down to the cogeneration plant in McBain who burns them for fuel. They receive a lot of cars, maybe up to 40 a week when busy.

Drove by Beacon yesterday, looks like the car that was dropped off this past week is already loaded. Lots of scrap in various forms ready to load (they were going full bore when I came through). Also went up to Amerhart on Thursday- the center beam was unloaded and ready to be picked up. They were open for business as well. I'm sure business will slow to a crawl for a few weeks now that contractors are not working.

Glad to see Beacon is doing well, and keeping the rails shiny! I wonder when they will resume the trackwork in TC (road construction still going on in TC, so assuming rail would be essential as well). There are still 10 loaded ballast cars in Boardman yard waiting for spring....

I was at Amerhart in Williamsburg about 12:15 today. The lumber crew had set out this empty centerbeam on the main for pickup. Guess I was just a little early for the GLC crew.

How did they get around the train? Is there a run around at Beacon now?

They separated the locos and put one onto the siding that goes to Brittan Media, then pulled the train with the other loco to the parked box cars, then backed the other put of the siding, and spotted the train on the Beacon siding, then picked up the 2and loco again. They had two engineers as they were using both locos separately to do the switching for about 45 minutes. Almost looked like a two train meet there for a bit!

Does anyone know why they alternate plastic pellet car / cement car for about the first 10-15 or so cars?

Weight restrictions on the Manistee River bridge. The crew kicked them out in Kalkaska.
