When did they change from North Yard to Sterling?
Do they perform any switching at Mound Yard?

For at least 5 years, (or longer but unnoticed if so) the NY-7 (day shift North Yard job that brings empty autoracks to Mack Yard and leaves with loads) will frequently run the loaded autoracks to Sterling instead of shoving them into North Yard. There must be a reason regarding efficiency to move the cars 10 miles in the opposite direction. Congestion at North Yard is another posible reason. It seems as if this move has been happened since Conrail began switching GM Poletown (which is scheduled to close at the end of the year). There was a day about 4 years ago when NY-21 was returning from Mack Yard and NY-28 was returning from GM Poletown and both ran their autoracks to Sterling, one right behind the other.

However, today NY-7 with the NS 8017 shoved their train into North Yard when returning from Mack Yard with loaded autoracks.

Mound Yard is / was switched by NY-8 from North Yard bringing the Frames, Hicubes, and autoracks out on day shift then tying down the engine. NY-27 would start on afternoons, finish switching the plant, then return the train to North Yard. There may be a night job working Mound Yard as well.

The NS 176 or daily empty autoracks trains will sometimes drop cars at Mound Yard. If not, the cars at dropped at North Yard.

I haven't seen box cars at the Detroit News plant in Sterling Heights in a while. Are they still getting rail service?

For what it's worth, the plant building also houses Sterling Heights Roofing, which I have marked on the Conrail customer list as currently inactive. So maybe currently not?

For AARR:

The Detroit News plant had a boxcar visible from Mound today that was a regular 50 ft car and not a HiCube, until now all that has been spotted there are Hicubes.

Also, Metro Alloys on the Terminal West has a Hicube on their track. They are a sporadic customer.
