I am sorry to have missed Q328 this morning with the Chessie caboose on the tail end; I would have seen it (in the dark) from my office if I had only been to work an hour and a half early! I believe LSRC acquired at least 2 cabooses from CSX recently, and it might seem that the G&W operations around Buffalo are the recipient of a few as well. Are the last few on CSX in Michigan being shuffled around or disposed of?

In semi-related news, C&O 904156, the Chessie bay window which was on the RIP track at Holland Waverly, was pulled out onto a yard runner near the wye almost a month ago. It was still there as of last weekend. CSX 904091 is still the regular Y121/Holland yard job cab.

I also saw Q327 this evening. Lots of boxcars tonight. No cabooses!

P371-05 is currently going through Benton Harbor. Sounds like IDTX 4603 leading.
edit: Departed St. Joseph at 8:10 am.

This is a surprise to hear as I have this caboose on my list as having been renumbered to 900414 a good 10-15 years ago.

Q327 arrived Pullman mp CG48 @ 20:22:40 with CSX 406 & 78 cars.
25 minutes after passing Pullman, Q327 reported a problem with his train & had found a seized wheel on a car & won't move his train until an inspector arrives. Q327 is stopped somewhere between Grand Junction siding mp CG55.6 and somewhere north of Bangor mp CG60.7 & beyond mp CG63.35 blocking the main line which will probably have Amtrak stuck in Bangor. Q327 was to diverge into Gross siding mp CG 61.3 to clear up for Amtrak.

I’m assuming that N801 did not make it past 327?

At 10:04pm, dispatcher called Q327 to lock the hand brake as hard as possible and then move their train at "walking speed" with the conductor walking along side the problem car all the way to Gross siding mp CG61.3 as Amtrak sits waiting at he east end of gross Siding mp CG63.1 At this time (10:23pm) Q327 is not in sight of Bangor & still don't know exactly the mp Q327 was stopped at.
Q327 arrived Bangor mp 60.7 at 22:50 and at this time 23:06 is still passing thru at "walking speed" with its 1 engine & 78 cars and heading into Gross siding's east end mp CG61.3 with Amtrak still waiting at the west end of Gross mp CG63.1 At 23:15, Q327 cleared the W. Monroe Street crossing in Bangor mp CG60.72 and has 0.6 miles to go at walking speed to the west end of Gross Siding.
