If it was 5609/5748 and 79197, they must have hightailed it out of there, as they were reported through Charlotte WB at around 14:00. There are a couple of test trains working the Michigan division currently - maybe it was the WC/AC caboose version at Avery today?

Well I hope they stay around for a while longer! These are cool trains!!!! Now, are those the same CN engines with GTW 79197caboose as were on the train with the "Blue"Test car recently?

Yes - same power. They are specially equipped with cameras on the short hoods so people in the test cars/cabooses can see the signal aspects ahead.
L533N by Mount Clemens depot at 22:42. IC 1005/CN 2136 - light engines. Sounds like x533N that ConrailDetroit mentioned will follow with a substantial train. M384 and M385 both running late tonight, so the MTC should be getting pretty busy in the wee hours.

OK, what are they doing differently with the"PTC Caboose" #79197 than the "Blue"Test car? Does anyone know how much longer these trains will be around?
I want to see the cabooses and will be in Durand New Year's Eve weekend! I wonder if they will be out working then!

Just picked up off the radio there is a derailment down there. Sounds like maybe m1 is the effected track.

(18:36:45) MagnumForce: Railfanning is way more fun when you stop caring about locomotives and signals
