Grand Elk should be making a run down the Hastings Lead sometime after 3 today with 3 loads. Just thought I’d share the heads up!

3 tracks full of hoppers for King mostly at Ann Street yard tonight. Should be a busy week for the GRE next week; kind of light this week in Lowell.

Upon further review in the daylight hours, seems to be 20 or so hoppers in Lowell also. Must have arrived on Friday.

Grand Elk was switching Ann Street in GR around 1:30pm on Friday. Two locomotives, looked like more sand cars north of Ann St.

Not exactly a train location update, but since this site has been quiet over the Holiday, I didn't think anyone would mind. There are no hoppers that I can find in Lowell, so I assume they will be busy next week. I have not checked Ann Street since Wednesday. Also, west of Grand River Drive at Montcalm Ave., across from Starbard Feeds, there are several stacks of what looks like old ties; and the ties look longer than standard single track ties. Not sure where those are from or what value they might have for the soon to be non-motorized (Fred Meijer River Valley something or other) trail. Too bad the rail line isn't their since the auto parts plant in Ionia is expanding. Might not use rail anyway, but now there is no option. On a more positive note, King Milling is expanding and under construction at the old Michigan Wire site in Lowell, and will probably use more rail over the next couple years.

King has really expanded recently. It would be fantastic if they started shipping out flour again by rail like they used to.

Agreed. I know GRE/G&W marketing people talk to them on a regular basis. The are the biggest customer on the GRE and probably among the top 5 in W. Michigan.

I can't remember if there's a cut of Kings at Ann Street or not. Must be too much turkey lol. Those are crane / muck mats at the county line. Consumers is installing a 6"? steel gas main, some on Riverside and some on Montcalm Ave.
The new building at Kings appears to be a warehouse, truck docks facing the west towards the vacated Broadway Street. King has more than doubled the amount of wheat storage they have.
