CSX Train Location Updates: October, 2018.

Question (apologies if this is the wrong discussion forum): How is CSX traffic routed between Detroit and Chicago and points to the west? 328 and 329 to GR don't seem to have a lot of cars, and the SB to WB leg of the Y at Deshler is used only occasionally. Does it go through Fostoria, or to Willard first, then to/from the west, or another option I have not thought of? Thanks -

329 would have more cars if Detroit could actually switch them out. They're trying to do too much with Rougemere, 10 lbs in a 5 lb bag!

Supposedly there's a weed spraying train coming west out of Detroit for Grand Rapids at some point.

Must not be making much progress. Even today (Thursday) this train, W06309 is ending its day in the Brighton passing siding.

Todays Q326 had 30 auto racks for Detroit and Canada in the consist.

NB local just turned east at Plymouth. CSX 2022 + a single steel coil car.

Auto racks are for Maryland and an Ohio site via Willard out of Fairfax, Kansas GM/BNSF. Seems that Chicago BRC in their Barr Block puts some of that traffic onto Q326 and then 328. Wyoming blocks up Willard and Walbridge stuff for Rouge, they snag em off and send em to Toledo/Walbridge. Willard block gets snagged from there to Willard. BLOCK SWAPPING in yards. Wyoming sets em up. Westward Wyoming has a Chicago Barr, BRC and a couple more blocks I can't remember off hand. Wandered down to Da Yahd this afternoon and snooped...don't tell anyone.

CSXT weed sprayer westbound at MA in Lansing at 13:20 at restricted speed, behind CSXT 6545, actively spraying. Somebody better get a picture of that wonderfully intact SCL/L&N Family Lines System boxcar on the tail end that is in great shape except for a little graffiti.

Earlier, Q329 by at 09:30 with 64 cars and CSXT 811.

D708 east at 12:30 with 8 cars.
