Heard them return to Cadillac at 1600. No chance to get anywhere to see them.

Sounded like northbound out of Cadillac around 0950.

Heard them but no see-um about 1430.I was at Juniors on 8th st TC getting a tire repair. I was near the train station horns blew, but no cho-cho.

397 and 398 left Cadillac for Clare at 1110 with 33 cars. Mostly tanks, 8 ties and poles for McBain.

Has anyone heard of a unit train loaded with ribbon rail headed to glc? Any idea where it's supposed to be installed?

The welded rail is going north of Owosso. There is a few miles of 90lbs rail and some 110lbs head free rail that need changed out. The rail if coming from the NS that the state bought for Amtrac to run on from Ann Arbor to points west. They have 72 hours to unload the rail, I hope they cut through the crossing instead of cutting the welded rail when laying it down.

Last I heard that rail should be set out in the Howell siding anytime now.

397 and 398 left Cadillac for Clare at 1135 with 45 cars. 11 of them for McBain. Mostly empty hoppers making up the rest.

Heard them on the north end of Cadillac at 0950. Assuming northbound today. Too much background noise for me to get a good read on them.

I heard the horns on the GLC Williamsburg track about 1410. Since I am more than a mile from the track no chance to see what they were pulling or which way they were going (probably back to TC).

Heard them on the north end of Cadillac at 0830. Haven't heard them since, assuming they are Petoskey bound.

Edit: Or maybe not since I just heard them leave towards Clare at 1320. Didn't hear them moving around town all day.

I don't recall reading anything in the most recent MDOT State Rail Plan

other than the dream of passenger service, that speaks to the future of the TC line. That seems rather pie in the sky when you consider that similar proposals in the more heavily populated corridors of the state, the Amtrak trains excepted, have failed to launch. There is still some demand for freight rail service on the TC line and as long as that continues, the state will probably keep the track in place. They probably calculate that leaving the TC and Petoskey lines intact keeps the door open to industrial development potential in the region. Although, I don't know if that is considered desirable or not. Someone who lives in the area would have to answer that question.
