Drove out to Cadillac's north end around 1745 to see if they had returned to town yet. (They hadn't.) But did notice a big sign near the MAC facility that read Welcome to Great Lakes Central Railroad Tufford Yard. Wasn't there a few days ago. Does North Yard have an official name now?

Ann Arbor Railroad and Successors Facebook page has a photo of 382 and 398 in front of the Filling Station in Traverse City today.

It’s been referred to as North Yard as long as I can remember

Looks like the Chef Pierre (Sara Lee) plant in Traverse City has been sold again:

Thanks! 2018 has been an interesting year in TC for firsts. First time (that I can remember) for a Saturday train (freight), first time (and twice now) that we've had 6-axle power up here), and first time we can more than once see trains ranging up to 21 cars. And GLC was here Saturday and yesterday, so technically twice in a week.

Leaving Cadillac for Clare at 0940. Only heard them, couldn't see them.

Found this video of GLC 382 leading the train in Traverse City yesterday. They eventually left with a nice 7 car train- 2 empty center beams and 5 Beacon loads):

Nb maybe half way between alma and shepherd. 382 and 396. 2 orange potash cars on the head end. Who gets those up here? 1 pole load, empty beam, lots of gons, high and low sides, plastic and black tank towards the tail 1222

Has the sand outright stopped for now?

According to someone who works for GLC, it’s very cyclical. I honestly don’t know the first thing about the extraction, handling, storage processes of sand so I can’t even guess what makes it cyclical. Climate?

It's fracking sand so I would think the amount of oil drilling dictates the amount of sand required

Currently switching McBain on the way to Clare. Looked like a 30+ car train left Cadillac.
