I went trackside at Dearborn Amtrak station to catch the "Dome Car" on train 355 yesterday, Aug. 18!!!! It did not have this car, just regular AMTK! One Railfan said that GTW took the dome car to Durand for LSRC (by way of HESR)! What is going on? How long will it be there? I thought this car was going on Amtrak "Wolverine!" Does anyone know when it will come back to Pontiac for the Amtrak trip? I actually would rather see GTW hauling this car more than Amtrak! Where can I find out if/when it will head south from Durand to catch it? It looks like are upcoming trips for this car! Any help is appreciated!

I rode my bike to the tracks, Masonic Road, Fraser this morning! I saw the southbound
LORAM "Rail Grinder" approaching!!!! I went to the platform in back since I didn't have my normal good "Zoom" lens! The "Grinder" stopped short of Masonic at 9:00 a.m. It soon backed up and kept going north! Why did it do that? :?: I thought it may then stop on a siding in Mt. Clemens to let a train pass─soon came back with the lens! I got southbound train 383, CN SD70M-2 #8883, CN C40-8W #2162, CN SD75I #5770, 154 cars with a CN ES44DC "DPU" in middle, cleared Masonic Road, 10:00 a.m.

:?: Does anyone know what the
"Rail Grinder" will do today (8-19)? :?: I want to catch the whole thing pass─especially since I hardly ever see it!!!!! :!:
Please help track its "Whereabouts!!!!"

Rail Grinder is currently tied up and blue flagged in MOUNT siding. Several LORAM trucks at the CN Engineering office making repairs and working on the grinding apparatus. Don't know when they will get back out on the main. Sounds like a 271 and possible extra intermodal, along with the manifests and local - MTC sub should be quite busy after dark...

Does anyone know if the LORAM Rail Grinder will be "Grinding" tommorow (8-20) morning on the Mt. Clemens Sub? :?: It should still be "Tied Down" on the siding in Mt. Clemens! I may go to the tracks early in the morning hoping to catch it "Grinding!!!!" "Be on the Lookout!!!!"
