Very quite day on the Holly south of Pontiac today. I saw no trains other than Amtrak. I may have heard 451 going through Pontiac around 10:30 am while I was at church, though it might just have been Amtrak 353 backing into the station to board and depart (the station is just two blocks away).

Spoke too soon. Train 391 NB past MP 22.5 with 2868 and Citirail 1339 at 7:32 pm. Phew, thought the trains had stopped! Very short train, though.

Eb by 205 at 2118. Single city unit pulling. A few mixed freight on the head end then stacks. A lot of domestic containers. I think 116 usually has import traffic but I may be misremembering. I did hear desk 8 checking a crew onto their train a bit ago. Usually its battle creek a hear here so there may be something following him shortly. Also 364 meeting one at Bancroft.

Train 451 with a CN unit leading Citirail 1519 NB past MP 22.5 on the Holly at 10:35 am, running ahead of Amtrak 353's Pontiac departure. Train 950 went SB by a bit earlier with 4934. And returning 515 with 5847 went past MP 22.5 NB at 3:30 pm with a short train of empties.

A Lorem Railgrinding train is working its way back and forth on the Holly south of Pontiac this afternoon but it is a short, two unit set and I never heard or saw or smelled any grinding going on.

Train 451 is NB at 2:45 pm with a CN unit leading a CREX lease unit.

I think it was around that time that I saw a Loram ballast cleaning set in the consist of a CN train in Battle Creek. Only a couple units tied together, has a big digger wheel ( Probably not the technical term  ) on the side and a conveyor system, and a lot shorter than the typical railgrinder, maybe that's what you saw?

Sounds like the same contraption. Must be two sets of this shorter equipment around.

This either very late or very early 116 is just SB past MP 22.5 on the Holly at 8:52 pm. It now has three locomotives.

At the Battle Creek yard, CN 2944, gray CREX 1518, boxcar CSX 8878, and r/w/b BCOL 4607 lashed up and idling near the fuel dock, CN 2868 and CREX 1329 tied down near the Track Dept, CN 5451 building a train to presumably head west, and blue GTW 4911 idling near the tower.

116 by 205 at 2359. 2 units pulling. Trailing unit must be pretty new. It looks to have very clear white LEDs on it.
