GLC Updates May 2018
Re: GLC Updates May 2018
Heads up.
Folks in the know reported via Facebook this weekend that the other SD is likely to hit the rails this week.
The exATSF SD45, now SD40-2, has been numbered GLC 329 and still wears its CEFX blue paint.

Returned to Cadillac at 1530. In no position to see them.
Still heard them moving around at 1800. Maybe a run to Yuma?

Sounded like northbound out of Cadillac at 0915.
Re: GLC Updates May 2018
There is an empty at Amerhart, a loaded gon at Beacon, and 6 hoppers that need to be spotted at Beacon (currently on the main), so perhaps a TC run today (and who knows what came in to Cadillac yesterday).AANscaleRunner wrote:Sounded like northbound out of Cadillac at 0915.

Re: GLC Updates May 2018
329 ran on a train to Osmer last night. Seems logical to assume the SD will go to Clare or Cadillac today, depending on train size. Locomotive was facing north.
Now would be a good opportunity for GLC to test both SD's on a long train to Cadillac.

Would somebody 'in the know' please tell me the logic behind numbering this locomotive 329?
Re: GLC Updates May 2018
329 and 382 are in fact taking ONTN out today. Still building their train in Owosso at 11:00. 329 is leading. They sound GREAT!!

I was told "because they can". In short, there probably isn't one.ChessieForever wrote:Would somebody 'in the know' please tell me the logic behind numbering this locomotive 329?

Just heard them on Cadillac's north end at 1630. First time I've heard them all day. Maybe a north run this morning.

Hmmm, 329 for the "new" unit and 389 was scrapped. Any pictures of the number boards on 329?SD80MAC wrote:I was told "because they can". In short, there probably isn't one.ChessieForever wrote:Would somebody 'in the know' please tell me the logic behind numbering this locomotive 329?

A couple of short videos.

Re: GLC Updates May 2018
Probably because 329 was a SD45 and is a re-built on a SD45 frame and body as a SD40-2, 382 is a SD40 rebuilt as SD40-2

Leaving Cadillac for Clare at 1045.
Re: GLC Updates May 2018
GLC was in TC yesterday, dropped off 2 centerbeams and picked up one empty from Amerhart, picked up 1 loaded gon from Beacon and spotted 9 hoppers at Beacon. Also the box car is still at the far end of Beacon siding, been there couple months now- they must adore it, lol.AANscaleRunner wrote:Leaving Cadillac for Clare at 1045.

329 and 382 into Cadillac at 1930 with 20 sand hoppers, 1 covered hopper, 1 tank and 17 cement.
Re: GLC Updates May 2018
When they renumber 382 to 328 by reversing the last two digits, 329 & 328 will be numbered consecutively again as intended.ChessieForever wrote:Would somebody 'in the know' please tell me the logic behind numbering this locomotive 329?
