Fresh tracks in the snow at the 5 mile rd. crossing East side of TC. I noted this about 1330 and am having lunch at the Bayview
Inn right next to the line. I'll watch to see if they have been both ways or yet to return to TC.

As I was coming home from lunch I saw GLC headed EAST across Holiday Rd. toward Williamsburg with two loaded centerbeams about 1450. They have all of us off guard today. The fresh tracks I saw earlier I can only guess maybe was M of W hi-rail clearing switches and crossings.

So heads up for anyone wanting to photograph GLC as they will be back thru TC in a hour or so, and then on to Cadillac.

They may have to go to Beacon as well for a loaded gondola.

GLC Northbound Through Durand at 1449:

GLC 399
GLC 395

2 Plastics Hoppers
4 Cement Hoppers
1 LPG Tank Car
1 Cement Hopper
1 Coke Load
1 Tie Load
1 Coke Load
3 Tank Cars
1 Pole Load
1 Cement Hopper
2 LPG Tanks
16 Cement Hoppers

34 Total

Looks like cement traffic is picking up again as the weather gets warmer. I'm not confusing these with the sand hoppers, as all of these had LCEX/CBFX reporting marks and the sand is coming in HWCX hoppers.

It would be kind of cool to know how the cement loads get broken up.

GLC is still in TC! Edit, they left about 5:50pm after leaving Beacon. 4 more hoppers and an empty gondola spotted on the Beacon spur. One of the former TSBY/AA double door box cars remains at the very end of the spur. It continues to escape the torch, so still wondering if Beacon is keeping it for themselves.

Ah 14 more cars for Traverse City- Beacon. Odd time for NB through Mt Pleasant. But then having a train in Traverse City today at close to 6pm is very odd too.

Great Lakes Central 399, 395, 398, 390 still running air test in a Owosso at 9:55am, it will split in Ashley; 1 loco & 3 hoppers will go to Middleton, 3 locos & big train clear straight to Clare. Another big cut of sand hoppers on rear.

As per strange GLC schedule comments above; a crewman just told me business is great and they're even considering a couple more SD40's.

I think it was back in June I talked to a conductor who said that the "quiet shortline" was turning into a very busy operation, and some good changes were coming. It's great to see that come to fruition!
