Re: CSX Train Location Updates: April, 2018.
I was advised of a convoy of heavy equipment on e/b I94 passing thru Battle Creek about 10 pm, supposed to be enroute to a CSX derailment near Ecorse, MI. Any word on this?

P370-05 is currently departing St. Joseph. Sounds like IDTX 4621 leading.
Sounds like westbound coal empties stopped at Kirk with BNSF 9671 leading.

Q32705 went west by Bangor at 7:10pm, CSXT 7807 and CSXT 872 trailing. Q38405 east at Fox in Grand Rapids at 9:15pm. Those empties had the same power as the pushers on N80004 earlier today.

A mumbler with a possible bad radio is by SL. Can't tell direction, but sounds like westbound based on the clarity of signals coming in. 368 axles, 5427 feet.
Even with a bad radio, almost every signal call I've ever heard is around 7 to 10 seconds, and these ones are around three to four. Interesting.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: April, 2018.
NB Q385 is idling at Lilley Rd. Engines just returned from North Yard with 8 cars and coupled up to the rest of the train; looks like maybe 50-60 cars total. CSX 5200 + 5258 + 3248 + 535.
UPDATE: It took off and turned west while I was getting food, just before 6 pm. Should be well west of Plymouth by now.

5200+5258+3248+535 leading quite possibly the shortest Q385 I've ever seen. 148 axles, 2036 feet. Horn is a strange Major C chord.
Testing my new mic with this catch, when setting up, had barely 15 seconds to spare. Thanks for the heads up SW. Hope it looks good.

That was V94431, CSX 888+3045 on its way to ADM in Webberville. First V-train grain empty since Feb. 21st.J3rsdm5 wrote:A mumbler with a possible bad radio is by SL. Can't tell direction, but sounds like westbound based on the clarity of signals coming in. 368 axles, 5427 feet.
Overnight last night, Q38405 had 48 stone car empties on the rear of its train, which have been hiding stored somewhere since the last stone loads went west last fall. Now that they don't run stone trains anymore and the cars come in various length sections on Q385, hard to tell anymore if they are going to the stone yard in Lansing or Grand Rapids.
Its been a strange week for D-708. They did not run on Monday, did nothing but switch Rhytec and take CN 5722 to South Lyon on Tuesday, turned at Fowlerville on Wednesday, did nothing but come to Howell twice on Thursday, engines light first to pick up 62 cars in the Howell pass that GLC sat off for them the day before, and then returned a second time to bring 57 cars for GLC back into the Howell pass. While today was supposed to be a regular switch day for everybody, including Ogihara who has been out of cars for over a week now, they got instructions to above anything else, clear out Webberville for the V944 grain empty coming. That in turn meant nobody BUT Webberville got switched as they are running around their train at Fowlerville again and heading back to Lansing. The reason? Q385 is coming and the V944 needs to get spotted at Webberville before they run out of time.

There was one CSX train entering Lansing WB about 15 minutes ago. Another just passed over Farm Lane, also WB. No idea of symbols or road numbers. Shame I didn’t have my camera, I’ve been trying to track these guys down since September but I’m either not available or not ready.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: April, 2018.
Still nothing but scrap loads. 49 loads have gone out so far in 2018, six more there to pick up when they get picked up. As usual, could have, should have been double or more than that amount but they continue to ship out more by truck than by rail. Been years now since they have shipped out auto parts, but they could, especially with two major additions in the last three years to enlarge their plant and their business. A stead stream of trucks going in and out of this plant 24 hours a day. They had a 4th entrance put in with this last add on and doubled the size of another.AARR wrote:What is Ogihara shipping these days?
D708 was the first train at Lansing awhile ago, the short Q385 was right behind them.
