D70008 west at Bangor at 2:01pm. Sounds like they shoved Q326 up saugatuck which is odd. CSXT 8369 and CSXT 5501 for power, running lite to Kirk to get yesterday's D700.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates February 2018
This train just passed through lake Odessa. Moving very slowly toward the end. Not sure if going into the pass or just all the one unit could do pulling all of that stone up the grade.BL2-1843 wrote:Q38506 but looking like an S385 train out of Plymouth/Detroit, approaching Williamston at 13:50. Only one unit, CSX 94 and only 77 cars. Lots of Ogihara scrap empties near the front, and 22 loads of what is probably frozen ballast in the middle amung other odds and ends that looked as if came from Detroit, when Q327 used to run from Detroit, instead of Selkirk as a normal 385 train would look.

Basically...apparently they didn't notice until after they went into emergency.DaveO wrote:Bouncing off the ties for awhile before it got noticed?justin_gram wrote:Supposedly there’s a 6 mile long 10 MPH speed restriction in that derailment area between Gross and Hartford.
Sometimes, a car derails and they don't even notice. In 1996, when a friend of mine was living in Grand Jct, a CP train went into the siding with a derailed car, and a passing train notified them of a car on the ground. You could see marks in the ties and gouges in the crossings where it was rolling off the rails through Breedsville and into Grand Jct.
At least it wasn't like the derailment in 1993 in Hartford, where a car left the rails east of Kirk and rolled through several crossings before going astray and piling cars up at the KLS&C siding. I was there with some friends shortly afterwards, and the crew was there saying they felt a little pull then went into emergency.
I also heard that a former bridgetender that lived in Hartford had seen a car go by with a glowing wheel and had called it in.
This was back when there were only DDs at 19.1, 66.2, and 108.9. After this derailment, 44.2, 91.9, and 131.3 were added.
And currently P370-08 is waiting at St. Joseph to depart on time at 9:15pm.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates February 2018
371 got knocked down 30 minutes by that slow order between Bangor and St. Joe this morning.
Re: CSX Train Location Updates February 2018
Interesting. When it happened, the crew claimed they set off the DD, stopped, tied up some hoses dangling on the Harbor locomotive, and then when they pulled, it derailed. Maybe there’s more to the story...Jochs wrote:Basically...apparently they didn't notice until after they went into emergency.DaveO wrote:Bouncing off the ties for awhile before it got noticed?justin_gram wrote:Supposedly there’s a 6 mile long 10 MPH speed restriction in that derailment area between Gross and Hartford.

Northbound coal loads at Glenlord Rd. in Stevensville right now. At work, so I can’t turn on the scanner to get train symbol.

Q326 with CSXT 7891, CSXT 7666 east by Bangor at 13:14.
Maintainers currently have EC1 at Gross, sounds like a track light is on.

Heard D736 continuing east in Livonia, clearing Stark Rd. Sounded like CSX 3943 leading.
