I mentioned a same-way meet the other day on the Holly with the two 4626 locomotives and how these are not that common anymore out my way at MP 22.5.

Well, something must have changed because Wednesday it happened twice again. Both time involving Amtrak.

The first was around 3 pm with Amtrak 350 heading north on Main 1 and as it was rolling by returning Train 950 was also NB being passed by it. I presume 950 was dogging it a bit as it should have had a red board at MAL Junction so Amtrak could cross over to Main 2 and then its siding at the Pontiac Transportation Center.

Then around 8 pm I was approaching the gates going down on Woodward Ave in Pontiac and Amtrak 352 was rolling NB by on Main 1. Just as its last car cleared Train 391 was blowing its horn NB on Main 2 at a pretty good clip. But this time they cleared the freight at MAL and stabbed Amtrak there, delaying its crossover and arrival at the station until the freight cleared. Oh well. Whoever put that Pontiac station on the east side of the tracks wasn't thinking and it screws up the reasons for at two-track mainline.

Another same way meet at MP 22.5 on the Holly just now. Train 503/451 was flying at speed NB on Main 2. Just as soon as he passed, about five carlengths, Amtrak 350 followed on Main 1 dogging it a bit, which means 503 had the signal at MAL and Amtrak, who has to cross over Main 2 there, got stabbed again. My guess is that they are using Main 2 more now after they did all the tie replacement on it this summer. It is still jointed rail out here, unlike Main 1 which has been welded for a number of years.

Now that the long SB is passed, I can that GTW 4926 is on another track with a local train. Lot of centerbeams at front, tankers to the rear. Now heading north toward Forest Lawn.

Thanks, and I'm guessing the local that wandered north of Forest Lawn toward Nolan was 515.

Probable 384 NB was at CP YD at about 7:45 pm. Had caboose about 3/4 way toward end! Don't think it's reached Milwaukee Jct yet.

The caboose was 79197. Not sure where it's heading. I didn't even know CN had a caboose in the area. It was getting dark but I think the caboose was red.

I spotted HZGX 192 with about a half dozen flats this morning in the East Yard facing south towards the Milwaukee Junction. Anyone have any info where/why Herzog Contracting Corporation is in the area working?
