CN Updates Febuary 2017

533 CN 8920 is southbound on the west track of the Clem approaching the Junction where 515 IC 3129 is holding on the east track with two boxcars and 10 or so empty centerbeams heading back to Pontiac.

What appeared to be a very short 502 is in Fenton now southbound with CN 2915 and like 15 cars(not totally sure on the count).

At about 4:50 PM I did hear a southbound train with 72 axels clear the detector at MP 34.2.
I did hear CN 2915 mentioned shortly after this went by the detector.

CN 3060 solo all autoracks across Williams Lake RD at 8:02 PM. Have not heard a train number but could be a train 231.

This train had come west bound on the Flint Sub (Possibly out of Canada?)

I never did catch a train number tonight but saw about the same thing back on February 19, that was a "Train 231" and I am guessing this to be the same thing.

CN 2924 leading a northbound passed the detector MP 34.2 at 10:32 PM, 136 axels. I missed the mark up at Pontiac, but would guess this to be 391. They will be meeting what I presume to be 116 at Holly. 116 is approaching Chicago wye at 10:40 PM.

Has 2 cars to set off, and 14 to pick up.

Train 451 just went past MP 22.5 at 11:38 am with 2002, 5702 and GP38-2 4901 trailing.

Returning 950 with 4929 past MP 22.5 at 12:15 pm.

Heard a SB roll slowly past MP 22.5 on the Holly at 5:45 am in front of Amtrak 351. Maybe a late 116 as I didn't see that Jim mentioned 116 in his overnight report?

Speaking of Amtrak, I don't think that GTW wyes their entire train sets overnight any more in Pontiac. The other night after 352 arrived there were two light units at the north end of the station track both pointing north. 355 uses the one that was wyed the night before and leaves its single NB facing locomotive there. Then comes 352 around 8 pm and shoves its train back to the storage location south of the depot and uncouples its locomotive and shoves it up against the other one from 350 on the north end. My guess is that 354 does the same thing after it arrives around 1 am then the overnight GTW yard job comes down and wyes all three locomotives for the next day's trains.

And I still don't understand why only one locomotive on these Amtrak trains now. I thought that they needed two for the 110 mph portion of the run, not just for the convenience of having one on each end and avoiding a runaround or a wyeing in Pontiac.

Train 451 with 2403 Cowl leading past MP 22.5 at 3:03 pm. Looks like they ran him in front of Amtrak 350 again.

At 3:13 Amtrak 350 NB past MP 22.5 on its way to Pontiac. It was going at speed so they must have run 451 on Main 2.

Two trains Lansing MI at Delta plant crossing / Billwood crossing, 3:05pm. 1 - NB, 3 road enginnes, 106 cars. 3:10pm, 1 SB, 1 engine, #2855 , auto racks for plant''s siding. Approx 100 cars. Stopped and working the siding.

Update 3:30pm #2855 engine is stopped on N. Track, waiting on a wb train on S track; not dropping consist into the plant''s siding. Green lt wb on S track. #2855 is blocking crossing.

Update 3:35pm: #2855 wb on N track is moving out! Looks like he will now work the siding, as a small vehicle and a pickup are now moving around near the siding.

Light snow, windy, qtr mile visible, so can't see head end of train.

Update 4::00: WB through, 2 road engines (#'s?), 155 cars on S track at Lansing Billwood xsing.
