CN Updates Febuary 2017

I caught 116 at Airport Rd at 11:42 PM, CN 2915(Solo) leading. Then went over and caught 391 at Williams Lake Rd. at 10:57 PM. Regrettably missed the engine number on 391.


Edit to add:

I have the Durand scanner feed going. There is a BNSF 5738 working the yard there at Durand. Sounds like a possible 764.

514 cleared the detector MP 34.2, southbound, at 1:55 AM, GTW 4916 leading.

At around 9 am Train 950 went SB past MP 22.5 with 4929 running light.

At around 10:30 Train 515 did the same with 3129 and a usual length train.

At 10:45 Train 451 went NB with the same four locomotives that were on that 280 the other morning with the BNSF 4820 leading. Amtrak 353 passed it in my backyard on Main 1.

Just now at 12:51 pm returning Train 950 drifted NB with a couple tank cars.

At 5 pm or so returning 515 went by returning to Pontiac.

At 8:30 am Train 950 with 4929 and six tank cars went SB past MP 22.5 on the Holly. This train seems to be less busy lately. Less cars (often light locomotive) and comes back early.

At 10:10 am Train 515 with 3129 went SB past MP 22.5 on the Holly.

At 1:45 pm Train 950 NB past MP 22.5 with 29 cars. So much for my observation of it having less cars lately above.

At 2:40 pm what looked like a Train 280 with a fair amount of mixed traffic and a very long train went SB past MP 225 with two locomotives, the second being a black IC 1000 series. Amtrak 350 passed it behind my house on Main 1.

Just now at 5:14 pm returning NB 515 flew by MP 22.5 with a rather long train and 3129 on its way back to Pontiac. Boy that extra 1000 HP on the GP40 really allows this train to make mincemeat of Birmingham Hill with all those empty cars. It often is flying by at 60 mph NB.

I photographed southbound train 385 from the "Gone" Freight House in Fraser, 5:30 p.m. It had two CN C44-9W (I think #2506/2576) and 94 cars!!!!
I met a nice Father and 5 yr old Son too!!!!

Weekend Train 950/515 combo drifted SB past MP 22.5 with 4929 lite at 7:15 am, a bit earlier than usual.

I photographed northbound train 382 from the "Gone" Freight House in Fraser, 11:12 a.m. It was led by CN C44-9W #2573 and Black IC SD70 #1010 with 90 cars!!!!

533, IC 2456, is okay on the west track from Nolan to Milwaukee Jct.

116 cleared the detector MP 34.2 southbound at 1:12 AM, with 200 axels. CN 884? leading.

Has 23 to set off, 15 inter- modal to pick up. re-crew at Johnson Ave.

While typing above, 514 cleared the detector MP 34.2 southbound, with 136 axels, at 1:24 AM. CN 6223 leading tonight. not sure of set off at Pontiac but a pick up of 2 cars to take back north.

There is a train 231 at Gaines (No engine numbers yet). It come east on the Flint around the High Wye and south on the Holly. This is not a train I am familiar with. I do plan to catch it at Airport Rd.

Also while here have Durand scanner feed going. 505 is Starting work at Durand, IC 1037 leading.

Also CN 3015 approaching East Durand, I am thinking train 148, However that is a guess..

as I finished typing about 3015, 116 got the green to depart south from Pontiac, at 3:17 AM.

There is a train 231 at Gaines (No engine numbers yet). It come east on the Flint around the High Wye and south on the Holly. This is not a train I am familiar with. I do plan to catch it at Airport Rd.

I ended up over at Williams lake Rd to catch 231, at 3:49 AM CN 8837 leading, CN 22?? trailing.

It was all auto racks, my guess for Flat Rock.

533, IC 2456, is okay on the west track from Nolan to Milwaukee Jct.

OH DARN!!!! I missed a Blue IC C40-8W!!!! I hope it is pulling train 533 today (2-19)! Does anyone here know?

UPDATE (2:05 p.m.): I just heard that IC C40-8W #2456 is still on train 533!!!! I will go catch it (less than 1 hr.)!

YEAH I GOT IT!!!! Train 533 went by Masonic Road in Fraser at 2:59 p.m. with "Solo" BLUE IC C40-8W #2456!!!! It had 12 loaded "Well Car" sets!!!!

─I took eight pictures with my 35mm Canon® T90™ at 4.5 frames per second!!!!

385 headed south through New Haven with BCOL 4622 and CN 8012. I also noticed the new signals just north of the old station. Those should be helpful while I'm waiting on 533 to return Also, if anyone has any idea when 533 will return to PH, that would be appreciated!

Train 950 went SB past MP 22.5 around 8:30 am this morning. Missed the power

Train 515 did the same with 3129 at 10:30, sneaking out of Pontiac before Amtrak 353.

2290 and 1005 are the power on Train 451 that is slowly rolling NB past MP 22.5 on the Holly at 11 am.
