Should have had 48 cars, GLC 395-385-397. Entire train had just been picked up off the CSX passing siding at Howell. They either pulled 385 out of the consist in Owosso going north, or up north somewhere as I see only 395 & 397 came back south from the 5:03pm post today.

GLC Radio Traffic

Unread post by James Sofonia »

Quite some time ago I used to hear TSBY on my scanner when they got close to Traverse City and on some days I could even hear the dispatcher in Cadillac. This was nice and often gave me a heads up on their arrivial. But I haven't heard them in years, do they ever talk on the radio in the TC area anymore?

I hear the wood chips from McBain may be steady traffic for a while. If things fall into place it could amount to 40 cars a month. For now expect around 10 a month.

I saw on the news yesterday EJIW will break ground on a new foundry near the intersection of M-32 and US-131 in Elmira, Mi. I wonder if they will use rail service from the nearby GLC tracks?

The only business EJIW uses GLC for (that I'm aware of) is inbound coke. EJIW has property along CSX between Lansing and Grand Rapids that I hear gets an occasional gondola of either inbound scrap or to ship out their products.

I'm sad I missed them yesterday! They must have swapped power in Clare.

Someone in Mount Pleasant mounted a Leslie air horn to their vehicle, and has been playing with it over the past few days. They really need to stop, it is starting to mess with my head.

It seems 392 has been up there since October. Perhaps its due for a 90 day. It would be awesome if they leave 393 up there for a while. Heck, Id make a trip to see it on the north end!
