I made a post asking about the CN Pontiac-Orion Line and AARR posted this link: http://members4.boardhost.com/OtherMich ... 85149.html .With this potential new traffic and the huge expansion in Flat Rock, we could see an increase in traffic on the Holly Sub. But as the post says, this isn't 100% quite yet.

Good to know 451 has CN 8804 leading.

CN 8804 got the go ahead to depart north from Pontiac no mark up or GBO numbers? I was not sure this was 451 at first.

Anyway they cleared the detector MP 34.2 at 2:56 PM, with 324 axel.

What locomotive did train 533 have today (1-27)? I saw some of the northbound train from Groesbeck about 9:44 p.m.

Train 391 with three locomotives NB past MP 22.5 on the Holly at 7:50 pm.

And what I presume is Train 502 is rolling SB past MP 22.5 on the Holly with a very short train at 8:46 with I think the same crew as 391.

An Amtrak note. All the Amtrak trains out of Pontiac have had only had one locomotive all winter instead of the usual two, one at each end. There is a spare locomotive at Pontiac depot all the time. It is usually pointing south. My guess is that they are not wyeing the entire train, at least not the mid-day 350/355 but, instead, swapping locomotives. Then later in the evening, probably after the last two trains arrive (352 and 354) they wye either all the power or probably the two entire train sets they lay over at Pontiac and, while they are at, also wye the locomotive off of 350. This begs the question of wye (joke) are they suddenly not using two locomotives on each train, one on either end, to avoid GTW charges for wyeing at Beltline Junction at Pontiac Yard like they used too since soon after the trains went to Pontiac in 1995 or so? Also, I thought the real reason for having two locomotives on the Wolverines was that they needed two to maintain the 110 mph speed on part of this line?

This is interesting....you are probably right!!!! I also have seen (a couple times these last few months) an Amtrak® loco pointed south parked at the Pontiac station!!!! :?: :?:
Now, I thought they ran with a loco at each end to make the "Push/Pull" service "Easier" so they don't have to "Wye!!!!" I guess they don't know "Wye" (why) either!!!!
