Re: Amtrak November updates
AMTK 355 will have the same extra passenger cars, it was part of an Inspection Train.
Re: Amtrak November updates
Clear Ypsi west according to a buddy with the inspection on the rear

Re: Amtrak November updates
Just a reminder, along with the regularly scheduled trains the Wolverine extras 356 and 359 will run tomorrow, along with Pere Marquette extras 372 and 373.

Re: Amtrak November updates
Are any of the WOLVERINE or BLUE WATER trains running with more than five cars today?
What happens to the #356 set while it waits to turn for #359 - does it sit on the single main or get put away in a siding?
Thanks!
Andy

Re: Amtrak November updates
353 had an extra cafe giving the train 7 cars. 350/55 has had 5-6 cars as of this week which is more than the normal 4.

Has the Lakeshore Limited reroute been cancelled or postponed?
Re: Amtrak November updates
Postponed and the magic 8 ball says "highly unlikely" for the time being

Re: Amtrak November updates
When #356 comes in, it holds the main at the Ann Arbor station to turn as #359. NS will not run anything to interfere.

Re: Amtrak November updates
I went to the Holland Depot yesterday to see Pere Marquette extra trains 372 arrive and 373 depart - and I wasn't alone. It was great to see this extra train well-utilized, and there were a number of other people there taking photos and just watching the arrival and departure.
The consist was (east end to west end):
P42DC 34
Superliner I coach 34050
Superliner I coach 34063
Superliner I coach 34066
Superliner I coach/cafe 35004
NPCU 90413
372 arrived in Holland on-time and unloaded on the platform (they have room for 3 Superliners to unload at the platform at once). They then proceeded east of the depot far enough to clear the Holland control point, while the crew cleaned the train and the engineer moved from the east to west ends. Ten minutes before their scheduled 3:10pm departure, the train, now 373, moved west on a clear indication back to the platform to board a huge crowd of passengers for the trip west. While loading, the now-leading NPCU #90413 was parked with its front end practically right on the crossing at 8th street, allowing a few minutes to closely inspect the larger headlight casing and Dominion Foundries and Steel Company trucks belying it's former GO Canadian heritage, the only Amtrak NPCU with these traits. Enjoy the photos!
