That makes sense, maybe that's why they ran on Veteran's Day so they'd have today off.

Great Lakes Central south though Mount Pleasant at 3:40pm. They must have run 392, and 393 up to Cadillac, because there was different power on the southbound.

GLC 395
GLC 396

3 plastics
3 LPG tanks
4 plastics
7 Gons
7 TSBY hoppers
5 LPG tanks
2 plastics

GLC seems to do pretty good business these days.... I wonder if the Ann Arbor leadership ever regretted retreating to south of Ann Arbor? -Far fetched I know. Wonder if GLC/AA would ever merge some day?

I really enjoy the postings about GLC trains - car counts especially! So often you hear about a train and just the engine number or train number is reported. Now this is great, don't get me wrong, but the number of cars and what the train consists of really tells the story!

50 cars into Cadillac is really something! I wonder if this is a record? Where are all those 25 covered hopper cars going? Think about the size of these trains if Yuma Sand was still in business! (Any chance of that ever changing)?

Keep those GLC posts coming and thanks!

The report was in Mt. Pleasant so the 25 covered hoppers probably went to Rosebush where they load them and combine them with cars from Shepherd to form unit trains. Another place that gets a lot of covered hoppers is the plastic pellet transload in Clare. If they go to Cadillac they're probably for the MAC grain transload.

In the ferry traffic days 100 car trains were common. Post ferry traffic 50 car trains occurred occasionally when both sand and cement was running into Cadillac.

I always try and get as much detail as possible when I see them! I personally like to log car counts whenever I get a chance, and I am sure there are others out there who appreciate a detailed breakdown of a consist. Like you said, train consists tell a story and provides a lot of information!

As for Yuma Sand, if I heard correctly, they are completely done. I believe they are keeping the line, but I don't think they are getting any use out of it at the moment.

I did notice a steady number of loaded gondolas headed south over the past few months. They appear to be filled with old ties, and other miscellaneous rubbish. Does anybody know anything on this? I have known GLC to receive tie loads, but not ship.

I too appreciate the number of cars and what the train consists of, we only see centerbeams and an occasional box car here in Traverse City. So when you post those coming into Cadillac I know we will probably have a train here in a few days to watch for. Thanks.

Ran north out of Cadillac yesterday.

Missed them this morning due to a dentist appointment. Missed them this afternoon due to being out of town. After reading csx801's posts, took a drive past the engine house tonight and can verify 393 has made it to the north. 392 and 393 currently spotted behind the engine house.

The 25 covered hoppers (private) being talked about are for the MAC grain transload operation.

I had the day off today and there was no way I was going to miss it. :D I put up a couple of other videos on youtube also. Only wish there had been some sun instead if gray skies.

Heard them move from Selma Yard to North Yard around 0930. And back to Selma Yard and towards Clare at 1015.

393 leading 392 with 1 empty centerbeam, 2 MAC hoppers, 5 tanks and 3 covered hoppers. Centerbeam was brought back from TC last week.
