Re: CN Updates October 2016
391 is good to head north as soon as 116 gets past west Pontiac (116 is just passed Gaines now (10:03 PM)per ATCS)
391 has
CN 2664 Leading
BCOL 4646 Trailing
I missed writing car count down but it was under 20 cars. (thinking 18 total)
1517 feet long.

391 met an eastbound at Cedar.
CN 3060 & 3072 (probably 394) by East Lansing at 00:40.

Re: CN Updates October 2016
391 is good to depart Pontiac 11:03 PM All I got was that CN 3008 Leading. The dispatcher reported 116 at Cedar and the plan is for 391 to meet 116 at Durand.
Edit to add:
391 had 548 axels at HBD MP 59.9 (at 12:05 AM) . Per ATCS 391 will meet 116 at the siding south of diamond there at Durand. 116 has CN 3039 leading.

Re: CN Updates October 2016
I am back from being away a week. I heard what, based on Jim's report above, I presume was 116 by MP 22.5 around 3:40 am. Other than Amtrak this morning, nothing since then.
9:16 Update: Train 950 just rolled by with 6223 and a half-dozen tank cars SB.
11:28 Update. Train 451 NB at MP 22.5 with 3000 and 3039 and 53 cars, 42 autoracks and 11 misc.
12:50 Update: Train 950 just went NB lite returning to Pontiac.
12:15 Update: Train 515 just rolled SB past MP 22.5 with 21 cars, mostly loads of lumber, and 4925.
2:00 Update: What looked like a 280 went SB at MP 22.5 with two BNSF units this time (instead of usual UP ones): 4019 and 4360 though I might have the second digit wrong in the second locomotive.
4 pm Update: Train 515 with 4925 went flying by MP 22.5 NB with a dozen empty lumber cars on its way back to Pontiac.
I posted the following information on the Michigan Board but will also mention it here since I mostly post here. This Saturday, October 8, is the Michigan Rails Conference sponsored by the Library of Michigan in Lansing. Many current and historical Michigan railroad topics are being presented. There is a $15 registration fee that includes breakfast and lunch and you must preregister. Below is a link to it for more information.
I mention it as I will be giving two talks at it. At 10:40 I will be talking about and showing slides on Michigan's Upper Peninsula Railroads from 1975 to 2000. At 1:30 I will be giving a talk about taking railroad photographs. Also on the agenda at 3:45 is Kevin P. Keefe of TRAINS Magazine fame talking about Pere Marquette 1225 and his new book about it.
If you make it to the conference please introduce yourself to me.

Caught what I suspect was 502 at Airport Rd. IC 2705 Leading had two more trailing units but was driving and missed getting numbers. This was at 7:50 PM.

These particular IC locos confuse me. Were these IC Dash 9s ever in IC paint or in LMSX paint?kc8bdr wrote:Caught what I suspect was 502 at Airport Rd. IC 2705 Leading had two more trailing units but was driving and missed getting numbers. This was at 7:50 PM.

A SB at MP 22.5 on the Holly right now at 10:17 pm. Based on Jim's earlier report from Waterford it is probably the same train and probably 502. Very short.

No. They were ordered by IC and delivered to CN with CN Specs. They are only sub-lettered since it was IC who ordered them.SD70ACe Fan wrote:These particular IC locos confuse me. Re: CN Updates October 2016
Just caught a northbound at Williams Lake Rd. at 2:37 AM CN 5688 leading second unit was CN looked like 202? in the dark. I Don't have even a guess as to a train number.
Edit to add:
The train I mentioned above (with CN 5688) just went by the HBD MP 59.9 568 axels at 3:30 AM
OK one last edit to add: The train with 5688 is lined up east bound on the Flint sub (per ATCS) I wonder if it is a reroute off the Mt. Clemons sub?
Also 505 is working the yard at Durand (as of 3:30 AM) CN 2603 Leading

Re: CN Updates October 2016
514 is good to head back to Flint no work at Durand. They are departing Pontiac with 14 cars but will drop off 11 cars then pick up 3 cars at Draco on their way north. This was as of 3:55 AM.
Also have learned that northbound with CN 5688 is train 382 I have no idea as to why it was on the Holly tonight.

Re: CN Updates October 2016
Sorry, I was in Lansing most of the day and didn't see any trains behind my house today.
I did see an EB CN working the east end of Flint Yard from the I-75 to I-69 overpass with three GE's around 11;15 on the way to Lansing. I also saw a NB CSX on the Flint Sub. when I crossed over the tracks at Grand Blanc on the way there around 11 am. I also saw a SB on the H&E (ex-CM, nee GTW Bay City Sub.) when I crossed over it on I-69 around 3:15 pm or so. So basically I saw a train on every track I crossed between Pontiac and Lansing. I never see any trains on this route so I guess I hit the jackpot today.
