Lots of track work today at the GRE yard, crew will be making a run to Lowell and return.

GLC in Cadillac today:

They left around noon after close to 3 hours switching in Selma Yard. Didn't see what went to Clare though.

They returned at 1715 with 2 tank cars. Too far away to see loco numbers clearly, looked like 396 and 395.

Oh well...I did drive by Fuller and trackworks was blitzing tie replacement on the engine house lead as well as the storage tracks. They move the "yard ornaments" to a point just west of the St Mary's cement spur.

Meanwhile, two covered structures have been erected north of Fuller for the sand transload, and track crews were also in operation up there.

Engines are west of the St Mary's switch line and locked for the siding so just in case so they can't roll east.
CR Construction is doing the GRE track work. US Trackworks is doing the trans load work.

Some of that equipment is starting to show up in Muskegon. Henry street is buzzing with activity today! The Engine house has lots of MofW equipment parked out in front and more is showing up. There are also stacks of new ties and a few piles of ballast sitting around. Either This morning, or yesterday, They shoved all of the stored sand cars from the yard down the branch to Nugent (cutting at crossings). I drove past this morning, and the yard was Empty other than a few G&W employees wandering about.


2:30 Edit:
MMRR 2019 north through Spring lake with 5 hopper cars, 2 Box cars, 6 hopper cars, 1 more box, 3 more hoppers, and 4 tanks; making 21 total for Muskegon today.

I'm sure these daylight runs have been giving the fishermen on the bridge in Grand Haven something to bug about. They scramble quite nicely when the horn becomes audible.

395 and 396 left for Clare at 1020 with 1 pole load for McBain, 2 tank cars and 7 empty tie cars.

397 and 395 returned at 1625 with 1 tank car, 8 sand hoppers, 1 pole flat, 1 tank car, 1 pole flat, 1 coke hopper, 9 sand hoppers, 1 pole flat, 1 plastics hopper and 11 tie cars.

I don't believe they ran yesterday, unless the headed north before 0830.

395 and 397 left Cadillac towards Clare at 0935 with 1 tank car and 4 empty coke hoppers.

397 and 395 returned at 1400 with 7 sand hoppers, 1 tank car, 1 tie hopper and 1 loaded centerbeam.

At 1430 they left for Yuma with 24 sand hoppers.

GLC in Cadillac today at 1630:

397 is spotted behind Godfrey Chevrolet on the north end with the centerbeam and tank car that came in today. Expecting an early leave time north. 395 is behind the engine house.

The track speeders are also in town and are currently being staged next to the MAC facility just south of 397. They run to Petoskey tomorrow, Traverse City on Saturday and back to Cadillac on Sunday. Speeders are scheduled to depart north at 0800 tomorrow.

Nothing headed that way from Cadillac today. When they head north towards TC/Petoskey they usually don't run south. I'm not familiar with the Owosso to Clare run, so maybe there will be action on that end of the line.

Just an FYI: The elk dropped 2 - center beams off at the west end of GRE yard this noon. Look for Coopersville to come over and take to Standale Lumber sometime in the near future.
