NS Updates - January 2013
NS 7112 was SB light by Oak St in Wyandotte at 5:40pm.
121 left Oakwood at 7:40pm. NS 9134.
NS 196 got into Oakwood at 7:40pm. NS 9006 and 9354.
CP 241 was working Oakwood around 9pm. CP 8889, 8830, CEFX 1054, CP 8842, 8523.

They were on the headend. Dont know if they were DPUs.

EB CP Mixed Freight by Delray at 2:10pm. CP 8500 and 9720.
38E by Townline at 2:30pm with NS 9024 and 9539 where it met Amtrak 350.
CP 28T by West Detroit at 2:50pm.
21N by Delray at 3pm. NS 9528.
176 by Delray at 3:30pm. NS 9164 and 9435.

38e is stopped because of a siginal or obstruction on the tracks at mp25, couldnt tell between the 2 over the radio, talking to the DS, conductor is walking the train. apperently siginal problems too.

Around 4pm 2 light NS engines went north of the Sterling Secondary.

NS 5082 has joined NS 5253, both high short hood GP38-2's, in working out of NS Hinman yard in Battle Creek. At the moment (midnight), looks like they are switching some CH's into Post Cereals.

Kind of an advanced heads up, 38/39e will be picking up a privite car in Ann Arbor in the next few days (probably tomorrow). Don't think they could pick it up because of te switch back in AA. I will update if I hear more

I wonder if NYC 49 got sold? I haven't seen it listed online in sometime. Unless the Charter Cars are in town, but those are normally handled by Amtrak. I dont think that car would roll if it was sold CRman5 heard the orders a little better at first, he says 'Something like HC_X or something like that" I am going into AA tomorrow so I will check it out and report promptly. looking at Google, I comfirmed what I knew and 39e said, due to the switch back, the car would have ended up on the east end of the train which would put it infront of the units for at least 7-8 miles until they got to CP Ypsi.TrainWatcher wrote:I wonder if NYC 49 got sold? I have only seen it a few times, but when they need to put privite cars in AA they normally have to have the amtrak take them past AA (not sure how far) then NS will send them behind an engine or 2 to AA where they can correctly use the switch back to park the cars in the correct spot. engines must be headed west, so it sounds like the car will have to go to CP Lake or Chelsea to run around the car...
one more thing, 39e was running with just 2 dash 9s tonight, so I guess they could have ran the second one in to pick it up then sandwhiched it between the 2 engines.. but I think thats doin the most
