L302-25 @ 19:22 westward reported by the Defect Detector mp CH104.3 Mulliken, Mi with 176 axles. CSX engines #8335 + #34 & 41 cars. He had work in Lansing.

L302-25 @ 20:00 westward reported by the Defect Detector mp CH126.3 Clarksville, Mi with 176 axles.

L302-25 @ 20:15 was advised by the Chicago Chief a hot wheel was detected & they're to stop their train to inspect. Information pretty general at the moment. I'm not aware of the DD site at mp CH126.3 having Hot Wheel Detector equipment (it detects stuck brakes with infra-red scanners unique to their function as opposed to Hot Bearing Detectors) & wondering if the Chicago Chief is advising about a Hot Bearing. Neither the DD sites at mp CH104.3 nor CH126.3 had reported any defects.

The detectors are being updated with additional scanners to add in prevention of mechanical failures. That being said, believe Clarksville is just dragging equipment and bearing temp scanners currently. However, the detectors don't have to be triggered for a potential bearing to be flagged in the system. A report gets sent to the OP center and if a raise in temp is recorded over the last scan, an inspection may be required to check it out. Especially since there is no other scanner before GR.

Yes, that was my thought, too, an "anomaly" found compared to the data collected from the previous Hot Bearing Detector sites that didn't reach the threshold for triggering the Differential, nor, the Absolute alarm levels for the DD sites. I don't know what CSX uses for their HBD equipment "alarm" parameters. On Amtrak's NEC, we used 106°F for the "Differential Alarm" (if the opposing bearing on the same axle had a temperature difference of 106°F, or higher) and 205°F as the "Absolute Alarm" if any bearing reached that temperature. The aforementioned temperatures are degrees above the ambient outdoor temperature.
