Great video & thank you for uploading. There looks to be an old track on the right, was that a siding to a business at one time, or was that where the Helpers used to be kept at?

The track was used to unload fertilizer. I remember ammonia tank cars there a long time ago.

L302, L303, and L305 met at Brighton today, with L303 taking the WE of the siding at 16:51. L302 held the main and cleared the switch at EE Brighton going every bit of track speed, more than the 35mph HE limit for downtown.

First, no speed restriction for Brighton. Second, not kosher to post on a public forum a presumed speed limit violation.

It's not like he's right anyway. You and I both know the crew would already be in hot water for speeding before they even got off of the train.

No PTC on the east side, so it would have to be a self report unless you get hit by ERAD or a LDVR download. Either way, no one was doing 35+ in Brighton siding turnouts. There isn't a single conductor on our side that would let that happen. If a train gets to 5+ over a speed limit, we both get fired. You better believe we will dump a train if the engineer isn't getting it under control.

Not trying to incriminate anyone so my original post was edited. I was not implying a violation, just that they were moving faster than 35mph. Provided they were exceeding 35mph thru the EE switches at CH 45.3, no violation would've taken place given the limit, if still there, sits east of Rickett Rd. at CH 44.2 and is for the head end only. I should mention I make a concous effort to redact information that could get anyone in trouble. Last I had checked the limit sign still sits next to the crossing but I could be wrong.

Speed in the siding is 10 MPH, so speed thru the switches is 10 MPH regardless of main track speed (which is 40 thru Brighton according to the current timetable) or other less restrictive posted speeds. You are wrong in any assumption of how our speeds work. That switch would likely be very unhappy about 35 MPH anyhow...

Yessiree. We get a big red “Oh ” handle on the conductors side of most locomotives. I’ve never used it outside of testing it to be functioning properly when we couldn’t get air to restore on a train.
