CN Updates 10/26 to 11/8

Unread post by J T »

A somewhat short mixed freight rolled through East Lansing by my vantage point at 1535. Maybe a dozen or two cars. CN 2129 and BNSF 8258 for power.

Looks like CN #371, N.B. on the Holly Sub crossing Caniff St. in Detroit, MI @1231 on Trains Day, 10-27-14. Leader is a Union Pacific locomotive, CN unit trailing.

Saw the power from Veronna (sp?) road bridge this morning while heading out for a hike at the new CCTA trail. The csx unit was 89 iirc. Can't remember the ICE units number. Thought it was an unlikely pair for the CN in Battle Creek. I'm not real familiar with the CN through there though.

Great trail by the way.

I photographed this train southbound around 11:20 a.m. CN C40-8M #2439 led, followed by two CSX locos! There was an ex Conrail SD60I and C40-8W! It had 151 cars!

I was at my desk half listening when the dispatcher was answering a crew in the Pontiac yard(This was about 3:45 am this morning).

What got my attention was the dispatcher saying 382 (I am not sure I heard correctly) I was like say again? the train was lined north and told they "would be making a right turn at Durand toward Port Huron." I headed over and caught this train at Airport Rd here in Waterford at 3:55 am.

If memory serves me correctly Power was CN 5303 and IC 1033.

Did I indeed hear correctly in that this was 382? (I believe it was. do to it heading toward Port Heron) also Might anyone heard anything that might have caused them to reroute this up the Holly instead of going up the Mount Clemens sub?

I believe it was last month that it was mentioned somewhere around here that the Mount Clemens Sub is having some major work being done on it, and that some trains would detour over the Holly Sub temporarily. Perhaps this train was one of those reroutes?
