Loco warranty?

On my last visit to Rochelle I noticed something on the side of an SD70M cab in the lower left hand corner just below the number, in small letters it read “UNDER WARRANTY”. What does it mean?

The same thing as if you bought a new car. It is under warranty, for things that break, or go wrong, with in a certen amount of time. For example the lease units rebuilt by Alstom (FURX, GCFX, CEFX), for CSX, were under warranty, for the full five years of the lease. Now the last of the lease units will be five years old the end of the year, now CSX is responsable for everything.
