Flooding disrupt SC rail service

Unread post by snoopdober »

Norfolk Southern said its rail line to and from Charleston has experienced significant damage and is currently inoperable. A number of track washouts and bridge outages has happened. Three lines were closed: Columbia to Charleston, Columbia to Spartanburg, and Charlotte to Columbia. Rail service to Charleston will be out until at least Friday. It will disrupt transfer of BMW automobiles from the Greer plant to Charleston's port for export. CSX had its line to Goose Creek smelter Century Aluminum damaged in several places.
