If 611 is the Queen of Steam, this beauty is a Princess

Unread post by MQT1223 »

Here is a real gem. The Nevada State Railroad Museum is wrapping up the restoration of a three foot gauge 2-6-0 steamer called The Glenbrook that was built in 1875 by Baldwin and worked out west. Hard to believe this little thing hauled logs for a living, what a looker! After decades of being a parts source to her sister locomotive The Tahoe until she was given to the museum in 1942. This little loco has been under restoration since the mid 1980's. If those of you that are excited for 611 are happy, imagine how the people feel that have waited 30 years to see THIS restoration finished. Hasn't steamed since the 30's. She is set to debut on the NSRM's dual track loop on Memorial Day weekend.

Its projects like these that show the true testament to the patience and commitment of railfans and the talents that some of them have. Imagine the amount of parts that were fabricated to replace the ones on The Tahoe. This locomotive is a BEAUTY!

The Tahoe also survives on static display indoors at The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, Pennsylvania.
