This year is Cass Scenic Railroad's last year of being operated by the State of West Virginia. Since 1963, the Cass Scenic has carried nearly 3,000,000 tourists. It was decided this year that the State could no longer run the railroad on their own and ownership was transferred to the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad. I was lucky enough to film Cass behind the scenes this summer, which included interviewing the employees of the State. Many of the folks at Cass had a personal tie to the logging industry that once was so profitable there in WV. This winter, I'll be releasing a full length documentary on Cass as a digital download and a DVD. Below is a teaser for the film:

Re: Cass Scenic Railroad's Last Year as a State Park
Ownership was not transferred, its just a lease to operate it. Seeing what they have done to the other roads, I dont think it will be a bad thing.
