CP to sell D&H

Unread post by atrainguy60 »

According to a Trains.com article, CP has an agreement to sell the D&H to a buyer. CP has not disclosed to the public who the buyer is(maybe NS?). I couldn't find any other articles about this other than Trains.com.

I'm rather interested to see the progression of this. The November 1999 issue of Trains Magazine had a nice article about the purchase of the Delaware and Hudson Railway by the Canadian Pacific Railway. Maybe Pan Am Railways is the buyer?

Well either way,an old owner would be taking over the D&H as Pan Am owned the line briefly as well I do believe:

If NS gets it they better ad another heritage unit. The Delaware and Hudson name has a lot of history on its own.

If I remember correctly the same trackage right agreement that allowed CP to use the old Wabash-NYC routing also allowed NS certain trackage rights on the old D&H. I would have to agree NS is likely the most likely buyer.

It's NS. They are getting the line between Sunbury and Schenectady, while CP keeps the rest of the line to Montreal.
