This is just a start whats coming out of that Factory... The factory will be expanding in the future, as this is just a start. The line where the Passat is built, and it's only 1/2 of what the Factory will be, as expansion will be happening to bring more models here in North America....

Their HQ is in Davison (east of Flint). I'm not aware of rail service in MI unless that's their place in Flint.

Okay..It's that time of the month again and my monthly subscription of Railroads Illustrated came today. An article that intrigued me and that might be of interest to some is that a grain facility complete with a loop track will be coming to Meadville Pennsylvania. All this is scheduled to be built by 2015/2016. Grain trains will be moving out of here in the future. At least that's what I read in the article.

There is a movement by two western roads to capitalize in on intermodal traffic to mexico...UP just opened there new intermodal/freight switchyard in Santa Theresa New Mexico
https://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=As ... t-901&fp=1

And I read in Railroads Illustrated that BNSF recently started a dedicated intermodal out of Willow Springs to Mexico..Both BN and UP are connecting directly with the Mexican roads like KCS-TFM and FXE to forward the traffic directly into the heart of Mexico and ports on the Pacific side. Also with the widening or deepening of the Panama Canal, we will start seeing a shift in intermodal traffic in not so distant future.
